  1. Yes, but I note that they wear Yankee colors.
  2. I also just noticed that the teams switched home/away at some point. I've seen this hundreds of times and never caught that.
  3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xG6WHxvsqq4&feature=related For those interested, here's a super clear version of the entire short: http://www.220.ro/trailer/01-Bugs-Bunny-Baseball-Bugs-1946/PbldKmlPf6/ I love how all the players are on the field with cigars. Kind of puts some perspective on beer and chicken. :-)
  4. You are correct, but his change is not highly rated, so something must be up. An alternative theory is that his change mechanics aren't close enough to his FB mechanics and he's tipping the pitch. He has not really thrown it enough to get a good read from the stats, something line 70-80 times last season.
  5. The problem is that his change is too fast. FG has is at 90-91 mph, faster than his 84 mph slider. He needs to get the differential between his change and his FB to be at least 10 mph to be effective. 15 mph differential would be even better.
  6. The media tends to portray pitchers that way. In fact, I didn't know until I looked it up today that Lincecum's fastball is arguably his worst pitch. If you listen to Buck and McCarver, they make it sound like he's throwing pure heat.
  7. Crawford has already said that he was the one who overdid it. Do you tell players the truth, knowing that they will probably go out there and push too hard, or do you lie to them and give a more dire prognosis? As always, it's easy to blame the "medical staff" for what is probably a much more complex situation that no one on this board has any first-hand knowledge of anyway.
  8. Kershaw throws his FB about 66% of the time, but he has 3 other pitches that all have positive value. Lincecum's slider and change are actually his best pitches. David Price, on the other hand, throws the heater a lot and it's his best pitch, but even he has been using his change a lot more. Source for all of this is fangraphs. No matter what your name is or how good your FB is, you can't get away with one plus pitch as a MLB starter. I hope Bard spends his time getting those other pitches together, even if means he gets rocked a few times in ST.
  9. For those who have Crawford batting 6-7th, would you have honestly put him there at the beginning of last season? If not, then you may be giving 2011 too much weight because it's just happened.
  10. It took Papi almost a full season to fully recover, so it's not too surprising. Disappointing though.
  11. There's no way to answer that question. If I also have Youk and A-Gonz who can DH part-time and good replacements for them, you might shop Lavarnway because he would pull in a Pineda-like haul. Too many variables for there to be one answer.
  12. I don't rank Lavarnway's bat with Papi's at this point. As long as Papi keeps going, he's the full-time DH. But after he stops, there's no rule that we have to have another one.
  13. I speculate that under Theo, we were headed for a rotating DH. I think while the Ortiz era has been great, it's hard to carry a player solely for his bat. Cherington has followed a lot of Theo's strategies, but on this one he may go a different direction. I do think the Sox and many other teams are questioning the value of a full-time DH.
