  1. Why are they making an offer to Masterson...
  2. I say the Sox do sign Lester.. it's going to be around 150M or maybe a little more.
  3. Padres are trying to discuss an Ian Kennedy for Cespedes deal. PASS.
  4. I'd like the idea of them being able to keep Cespedes, but he is intent on hitting the market, and they can't give him a QO. They can get the best value out of him if they deal him before the season. That's the way it is. That and with the surplus of outfielders that they have, they don't need him either. If he were interested in signing an extension here then I'd be all for it but since he won't, dealing him is the best option.
  5. I'm normally one of cooler heads, but if Lester does sign somewhere else regardless of how we fill out the rotation, I will have a raging tirade that will make Fred look like he's the calmest person you've ever met.
  6. Padres were in for Yasmany Tomas, who just signed with the Dbacks. They could still be looking for OF and may be a trade partner possibly.
  7. A Napoli trade doesn't make that much sense. Moving Napoli moves one of Sandoval/HanRam or somehow even Craig to 1B, and then if we were to still move Cespedes, that leaves an OF of Betts, Nava, Craig, JBJ, Vic, Holt. Even if Hanley's defense isn't great in LF, at least we'd be able to fit in his bat as well as keeping Napoli's bat in the lineup, and move the pieces that DON'T make sense for us. I say Cespedes gets moved, maybe some utility guys and prospects.
  8. Of course they don't necessarily need OF, and their roster is pretty good already, so it would probably take top prospects and could end up not being worth it.
  9. The Nationals are willing to deal Zimmerman and Fister. Zimmerman I'm not too thrilled with, but if there were a possibility of a Strasburg/Fister package that'd be worth looking at, at the very least.
  10. I don't have much confidence in Latos' skills translating into the AL. He pitched well this last season, but his K/9 is terrible. If we're going for someone of that type, I'd rather have Doug Fister than Mat Latos. At least Fister has proven he can pitch in the AL.
  11. You mean a 2.25 ERA over 243 IP with 242 Ks. although his K/9 was WAY up over what it normally is.. I wonder what changed with him for that kind of performance.
  12. Would be interesting, but Latos scares me.
  13. I know, I kind of got excited heh
  14. He just took it back, apparently no trade.
  15. Most likely posturing, to up his potential trade value.
  16. What baseball player starts declining at 24 years old? Most of his stats have been around his career norms, he does not seem to be declining at all. He's also a career .294/.346/.465 hitter, has averaged about 15 knocks a season, and barely strikes out. Most of that was done in a pitcher's park. Granted, those aren't gaudy numbers, but they are hardly average, and should only increase playing in Fenway. Oh and the overweight thing? Last time I checked people can lose weight.
  17. I will never forget that ridiculous batting stance.
  18. Per mlbtraderumors: 2:55pm: Though there have been conflicting reports ongoing throughout the day as to whether or not Sandoval has officially selected the Red Sox’ offer, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle tweets that not only is Sandoval’s deal with the Red Sox done, but it will be announced soon.
  19. Very true, but you really never know what kind of crazy stuff Ben has up his sleeve.
  20. You never know what ninja s*** Cherington will pull, but the Phillies have been trying to shop Hamels to the Sox.. Perhaps they'll take Cespedes and a package for Hamels.
  21. Ramirez agrees to terms for 4/88 with a 22M vesting option for a fifth year. -Just now saw Pal posted this already. Wonder what's going to happen with the Sandoval signing then... I feel like there might be a major shakeup coming....
  22. Well that escalated quickly.
  23. After looking back, the Hanley signging still doesn't make a ton of sense, but getting him at 5/90 if true, is a f***ing steal.
  24. I'm generally down with Cherington's moves, but the HanRam signing to me doesn't make that much sense. Yeah he's got a career line of .300/.373/.500, but he's developed a bit of an injury history and his defense is suspect at best. I guess it remains to be see where he'll play in the field though. I thought that Ramirez was going to be the backup plan for not signing Sandoval, but it appears they are going after both. If this means they'll trade Cespedes, I really hope that means we land Hamels.
  25. That could literally be anybody.
