    I'm just glad they didn't end up signing Dempster (yet) I really hope there is still a trade in the works for an arm, or they have some sort of plan that makes sense, and doesn't involve standing pat.

    Some people seem to forget that these signings are two sided. The players also have a choice of which offers they accept... Haren CHOSE to sign with the Nats, it's not like he wasn't given an offer from the Sox.

    Not that I have seen, but I have seen speculation that he wouldn't return to SF since they non-tendered him.

    Agreed, I think he would be a suitable replacement for Papelbon at a good value. This needs to happen.

    Paying someone that much to only hit LHP is a ridiculous idea. I don't hate the signing, but I have a feeling they ignored his splits somehow.. Maybe there is just something we don't see.

    Maybe they'll surprise everyone and sign Swisher to play RF, flip Ellsbury and Salty + a PTBNL for an arm, then move Vic to center.
