  1. Dennis Miller used this in one of his bits: "what is that one way?"
  2. That's a mixed animal metaphor, sir.
  3. Which is just more proof that we have no idea what JH is actually thinking.
  4. Bloom could offer it right now. Paxton still has 3 months in which to hit the IL again, after all.
  5. A 2 year extension for $24 million, plus incentives for appearances, maybe a little injury clause tossed in, would probably do it. And I fully realize that's about as likely as Kike getting a Gold Glove this year.
  6. Absolutely. And it's been in play too often for the Sox in the last decade for my taste.
  7. I knew I was leaving one out. I'm slipping, man. First Chris "Smith" and now this.
  8. I agree. But usually here we're all about what the head of ops was left with, and what he was stuck with.
  9. Personally I'm only puzzled why you'd say this at the start of a game thread, instead of one of the general rant and rave threads.
  10. It sucks, but if the team looks out of it at the trade deadline, a guy like Paxton goes from being a player you like to watch, to a player you should trade to the highest bidder, because he won't be back next year and the rest of this year doesn't matter.
  11. Not really sure what your exact thesis is, but Bello, Crawford, Duran and Houck were inherited from DD. Story and Mayer are *hopefully* pretty doggone good.
  12. Except when it's also putting the winning run on base.
  13. I actually believe the goal is to rebuild and be competitive too. If all they wanted to do was cut payroll and build the farm, they could have passed on signing Yoshida, Turner, Duvall, Kluber, Jansen and Smith. Which means that if we finish under .500 (again), Bloom has failed in part of his mandate.
  14. The most expensive team in baseball history, by far, is 10 games under .500. Amazin'!
  15. It was almost exactly 100 years apart, too.
  16. And it seems like Mookie has been hitting leadoff homers every second game lately...
  17. 'At's what I meant. The Punto trade! I stole that 'cause I like it.
  18. They just gave up quite a bit for Chapman. But it doesn't mean they'd give up that much for Paxton. Paxton still carries a lot of health risk. He should fetch something from someone though, the way he's been pitching.
  19. The Dodgers pounced brilliantly on the golden opportunity handed them by the Sox. Poetic revenge for the Punto trade perhaps.
  20. Unfortunately counterbalanced by being 1-10 against the Florida Men, Tampa and Miami. That's why we're the Even Stevens.
  21. Bloom had a very challenging assignment and little room for costly errors. The problem is he has gone ahead and made too many costly errors. Hence back to back sub-.500 teams.
  22. Big dead money on the 2023 team: From DD Sale 25.6 From Bloom Story 23.3 Kluber 10 Barnes/Bleier 8.7 Total 42
  23. Just saying some of the same things over and over here, but I'll always think Bloom did pretty well with the trade of Betts, and I'll always blame Henry for not making a better effort to retain Mookie. Mookie is continuing to play like one of the all-time greats, 4 years into his time with the Dodgers.
  24. LOL not bad.
