  1. This defense is solid, hopefully Salty can be better defensively to contribute to that
  2. lol oh no, another season dealing with Salty-isms
  3. Need a HUGE season from Lester. Guy needs to start immediately.
  4. First hit of the season - Pedey. That's what I like to see.
  5. lol...how many innings, you mean? I say give him until the 6th to break a bone.
  6. BornToRun...looking forward to your great sense of humor this season. Keep it clean, brother man! haha
  7. Finally game time. Praise God. Stoked to be enjoying the game with my Talksox family.
  8. You guys seriously need Jesus.
  9. Our overall pitching staff looks much better right now than most of us would have thought it would...We could quite literally have a good enough group of arms to give us a chance to win more games than we thought. Sure, it could just have been that way for spring training and then completely do the opposite and be one of the worst in the AL-E, or even the AL, etc. Will be exciting to see how that pans out. No doubt. This year's team is one of those teams who can ultimately play way better than projected on paper. This is comforting to me, considering the last few seasons we were mostly in the opposite boat, playing way worse than was projected on paper. If the team chemistry works out nicely, and the guys play hard and grind on a daily, it could make for a really exciting team that excites us more than embarrasses or upsets us. Who knows, just my opinion. In the end, I don't take myself too seriously - My opinion is pretty ignorant, baseball is 'just baseball' in my life. I don't lose sleep over it or take it as serious as I used to. I realize for the most part that MLB players (pro athletes for the most part) take the game less serious than some of the hardcore fans do. I enjoy baseball and sports in general much more now with that view of it. It works for me lol. Ultimately, I am excited that we don't have a Carl Crawford or some team-savior to look to this season. We just have a group of guys who can potentially do well if they all know and play their respective role and work as hard as they can every day. The good news is that the NYY SHOULD be so terrible, that we can at least potentially have that as means of some sort of consolation comfort as a worst-case, lol! Looking forward to enjoying the season with Talksox family.
  10. Welcome to a new season. Deep breaths now.
  11. Bunch of us have MLV.TV premium. Mods will most likely move your thread to the already existing thread: http://www.talksox.com/forum/general-off-topic-chat/16323-mlb-tv-premium.html Not sure what issues you're facing - hope they get resolved soon for you.
  12. Yeah. The production/bullfrig ratio isn't clear cut enough for Aceves to be acting a fool to the degree he has been. I think the guy is just screaming "trade me, I hate this place, noone understands how amazing I am in Boston". If he was quiet and not a hotheaded ego-bag, I would consider him a pretty useful and decent pen guy. Doesn't seem to be worth the drama he could pollute the environment with, especially in a clubhouse where we just got rid of much of/most of that. Aceves is likely to come to work wearing a trench-coat one day and start shooting teammates. Send this weirdo packing.
  13. Yep. Perfect opportunity for the Sox to get rid of this guy and make an example of him. No room for this sort of this thing year whatsoever. Also, the odds are that Acevez wants out as well - pretty blatently did what he did and pretty blantently didn't remotely come close to apologizing for it when asked on the record about what the deal is.
  14. The more baseball guys (Tek, Pedro) that we can get in and around the Red Sox club the better. People (we) whine about anything/everything. Sure, it's a PR move. But after whining over and over about F/O and the Red Sox organization not having baseball guys or guys who even care about baseball around, this can/should be looked at as somewhat of a good thing IMO. What's the worst it could do? Bring pressure to the F/O and organization to start moving in the right direction?
  15. Welp, at least this guy doesn't type mental midget every post. wait...
  16. Some other things to consider: The definition of athlete) a person trained or gifted in exercises or contests involving physical agility, stamina, or strength; a participant in a sport, exercise, or game requiring physical skill. We could all have differing opinions on which aspect of athleticism is more important or valid in being a deciding factor of who is the most athletic athlete. Example: World's strongest man competitions have these huge guys who out of sheer strength can pull a transport truck with a harness. Gymnastics pro's use incredible precision and strength/coordination to do crazy flips on the matts, or to do whatever routines in the rings or on the pummel horse etc. Point being, one person could argue that the sheer strength is the best athlete, the other could say well no he's just a huge beast but dummy with perhaps no coordination otherwise, etc. So many categories and variables to consider. This is a super interesting topic - just nearly impossible to pick one overall person as a proven winner of the title.
  17. Word. Because it gets way too complex. Things we can't even measure remotely accurately. Here is an example to consider: Wayne Gretzky. Like him or not, the guy is considered in the hockey world as the greatest. It's neat though to watch his highlight videos and take note of how a huge percentage of the players he faced were pylons. Many goals he scored and moves he made wouldn't get by a Jr. B Goalie now-a-days. There aren't pylons in the NHL for the most part, and the sport has evolved so much even since he left, that his same moves/speed etc would get him on a 3rd line at best. (With all due respect, obviously I love Wayne, just making a point). How can you take the evolution of the sport into question, or would you argue that it's all relative (ie. Jack Nickolas vs. Tiger Woods argument that goes on for days with equipment, course logistics, blah blah) Tank Abbott at one time dominated the UFC....that guy now wouldn't last 1 round with the weakest UFC dudes, etc. The discussions are cool, but when they come down to nasty arguments, it really should be avoided because no-one can prove or disprove, etc
  18. There is no absolute way to answer and prove this regardless of how hard someone argues one way or another. In the end, it just ends up being another 'who can argue better' or 'who can argue the longest until everyone else gives up'. 'Fill in the blank (talksox member) seems like a good candidate to 'win' the argument, like most every other thread, for said reasons. lol. Just like in music, the "best" musician(s) are likely to never be heard by the masses...I would lean towards the potential "most athletic athlete ever" being someone who we may not even be familiar with (most obviously considering the fact that the thread doesn't indicate that it has to be someone in professional level sports, or well known etc). There is a 9 year old girl in europe who weighs 90 lbs who can bench-press 900 lbs. Can LBJ or anyone else bench press that many times their own weight? Wayyy too many variables here, pointless thread because of this IMO
  19. Right? Sheeh. Amen, brother.
  20. He can be found on the new season of Ultimate Fighter or whatever the UFC reality show is
  21. lulz, and a ballwasher for the FO. (jks!)
