  1. The problem isn't AAV, it's contract length. I wouldn't mind seeing the Sox pay Ellsbury 100/4, since he's likely to perform at elite levels for at least three of those four years. Anything longer than that, and all bets should be off.
  2. This is a dumb thought process, and part of what created the monster known as 2012. The Red Sox need to avoid overpaying for talent unless that talent is about to enter its prime, not leave it halfway through the contract.
  3. I didn't even wanna mention the cERA thing because i don't believe in the stat in general. However, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know Ross is the better defender in every possible way.
  4. Here's the general consensus on Bradley using the 20-80 scale: Hit: 60, Power: 45, Speed: 50, Arm: 55, Glove: 70 That is right now, as a 23-year-old just getting his feet wet in MLB.
  5. Are you seriously saying that Bradley's ceiling is David Dejesus? If you're basing this on "observed skillset" you need to buy some better glasses. You used to be the straight-up youth movement guy, and now that they've actually got some pieces to promote, you come up with these silly rationalizations and downright lackluster evaluations as to why Bradley/Bogaerts shouldn't be given a shot. At least be consistent on your arguments and use available data and projections instead of your awfully biased opinion.
  6. I'm in serious mode. My mojo requires me to be in serious mode. Do you want me to do something to change my mojo today?
  7. No. The statistics exist to counteract biased opinions like this one. For what it's worth, compiling statistical data to name the best fielder at his position is what fielding bible does, and Pedroia won the award.
  8. You know, there's the possibility that they just share the WS MVP award, and it would be warranted.
  9. It happened for the Giants, and they didn't even make the playoffs.
  10. Yeah let Salty throw away game six with his defensive ineptitude because it seems like he possibly could do better with Salty than the vastly superior Ross because of a limited sample size.
  11. There's also the whole "from 69 wins to a WS title" narrative.
  12. ^Sig-worthy.
  13. A++, with the team Bodacious Ben assembled a win away from winning it all. The haters can suck it, and the best move of the year was a non-move. Had Ben given in to fan and media pressure and traded Workman or a guy like Doubront for Papelbon, we're probably not in this position right now.
  14. As i mentioned in the other thread, everyone who won a fielding bible award also won a GG. And aside from Jones, everyone was top three at their position per both FG and BB-Ref's dWAR. This is leaps and bounds better than previous years, and an obvious improvement.
  15. This guy's probably not even a Cards fan and is just doing it for shits and giggles.
  16. Pedroia with his third GG. Pleased to see all of the posiition players who won fielding bible awards won gold gloves: Molina, Goldschmidt, Pedroia, Machado, Simmons, Gordon, Gomez, Parra in that order. This means the process for the selection of GG winners is improving.
  17. Different situations. You are very much in denial here, and it's hilarious. The lucky breaks happened this year considering your records, and let's see how many "solid additions" you can squeeze into that roster unless some idiot like the Dodgers come in and takes most of your crappy contracts. I'll wait here.
  18. Did you read the thread? This Midwest Manners guy is a troll, and the "i'm praying for you" is part of his schtick. mark is just trolling him back.
  19. I have tickets to Game 7. I'm kind of conflicted about it. As sick as that'd be to see the Sox win it in person, I don't know if my heart could handle it. Plus there's the whole unfortunate part where the Cards could also win...
  20. That's because Breslow barely throws his curveballs. He's a 2-seamer, slider, changeup guy. The problem is that his slider is both flattening out and has less velocity than usual, making it look like a curveball with lazy break.
  21. Neither has the defensive ineptitude of the Sox. What's your point? These things happen on the big stage.
  22. Yeah, we definitely can't forget the man who is the best closer in baseball right now, Koji Uehara.
