  1. What moves? So you truly believe Josh Beckett deserves to be wearing the Red Sox uniform next season. With all this speculation going around you want to bring him back? The leader of this pitching staff with young guys like Lester and Bucholz. The guy that was running the circus and you want to bring him back next season?
  2. 1) Trading Josh Beckett will be able to land you a decent starter. 2) You think that fixes the issue? I respect your opinion but I don't think Beckett responds to that very well.
  3. If the rumors at true, there is no way this guy survives this. I mean the manager who was responsible for the players is gone. The GM who put this team together is gone. Surely if Beckett is the ringleader and the problem in the clubhouse he is next.
  4. Mods, I understand there is a Offseason thread but I wanted to raise this issue and get everyone's opinion. If u need to merge it feel free. With all the "allegations" going around lately, particulary the one's with Josh Beckett's name in them and let's face it - there is a few. Is there any way this guy is not shopped around in the off season? I understand he had a good year and is probably our best starter but all of these "allegations" happened on his watch as he is the leader of the pitching staff and it clearly sound like Lester and Lackey followed him like sheep. His attitude stinks in my opinion, he gained weight during the year and apparently stopped caring when he was out of the Cy Young race. His contract isn't that bad and every team wants starting pitching. Surely he can't survive this?
  5. He is obviously playing games to get another pay day. But he doesn't want to be here and his behavior has been unacceptable. Let him walk.
  6. Luchinno and Henry seemed to think he will bounce back. I think when asked the question if Lackey could recover, the answer was "absolutey". Henry also went on to say how inconsistent pitchers are. I think its an outrage if he returns.
  7. What's everyone got against LaRussa? He has proven this year he can get it done. I'd rather him then Martinez. I think ownership stated the other night thy want someone with managerial experience. I think it's a must in Boson next season.
  8. This. It has been documented that he has cost us. I'd be surprised to see him on third next season.
  9. Ortiz said in a interview last night that he didn't know Tito was a interview. What a joke. As if he didn't know where the media room was or what it was used for. It's all about perception.
  10. He's going to the Cubs. I give it 2 weeks if that.
  11. Kevin Fowler - Hell Yeah I Like Beer music video. Take a look.
  12. The players didn't respect him as a professional. And let's face it - he will manage again there is no doubt about it. A manager who has won 2 world series in Boston never works again. I don't buy it. I think Tito gave a fair few inches and the players took many miles.
  13. Anyone catch WEEI radio earlier? Anyone else find it really interesting that John Henry didn't know about the Kevin Fowler music video. There is divided opinion but for mine it sounded like he no idea. Larry was stuttering the whole time through it. He didn't know. And for the Red Sox name to be used in something like that without him knowing is definitely going to cause a reaction. Maybe he truly didn't know? For mine he didn't. Opinions...
  14. Anyone catch this yesterday? http://audio.weei.com/device/mobile/a/46707100/terry-francona-speaks-publicly-with-the-big-show-for-the-first-time-since-leaving-the-red-sox.htm First off, I can totally understand that as the manager he was responsible for things that he could no longer control - which in the end was his downfall. But how the hell is he still defending these players (his ex players) who decided they didn't respect him after 8 years. To this day he still defends the guys that let him down and cost him his job. That's obviously just the kinda guy he is but geez it makes me furious to hear him say in a nutshell that veteran guys tuned him out. Obviously they don't respect him as much as he does them. Found it funny how he said he wouldn't have resisted the option.
  15. In my opinion guys like Kalish, Lav and Iglesias are all project guys. Guys that still need to be blooded into the big leagues. I'm all for promoting the farm but 2 years with no post season, I think the objective next year is to win. I dont believe those 3 guys can offer anything outstanding, otherwise they would have by now.
  16. It sure is. I was kinda hoping the Cards wouldn't hold onto Wainwright and we could grab him. Not to be, which sucks.
  17. I'd take the risk of keeping him and hoping he is consistent next season. I'd be looking to ship Youk and Beckett and seeing what we could net for them. I definitely don't think it would be anything to great, someone who can stay healthy and contribute with a good attitude id be happy.
  18. I don't think so either. It's easy to replace him positionally just not his production in my opinion.
  19. I think it comes down to Bard. If he is 100% committed to the cause and works his tail off to ensure he becomes an effective starter then yes. He has to be committed to the idea first.
