    yep i agree WMB was very erratic and AGon bailed him out more than a few times.

    he definitely sucked last year at the plate. hoping he can figure out his timing at the plate this spring. But i really like the idea if Marrero is decent at defense and has a little pop in his bat, and Middlebrooks to 1st makes more sense as i see him as a Longoria type player who can keep injuring his hamstring.

    Hanrahan has proved in Pittsburgh he can pitch but to keep it at the same level in East coast is going to be a huge uphill battle for him... Sands could have easily become the 1st basemen we are missing this year if Ross/Napoli/Lavarnway were going to do catching duties. it could have given us lot of options at 1st and catcher but defensively we would be and we are weak at 1st base. I have not heard anything about Holt so not sure how to put this trade the only piece i will miss in this trade is Sands, if he figures it out that is. rest were expendable. I didnt think we were in need of a closer esp since we got Uehara.. i would have put him in the 9th inning role. i think he would have fit there perfect. oh well I am not the Manager so all i can say is lets hope this turns out to be a good trade for us...

    my question is was Jerry Sands expendable. i thought he would mash 30HRs at Fenway with ease.. atleast thts what i thought when reading about him.. i know its too late.. but just curious

    Sanchez is likely heading to Tigers, since he wants to go there and is asking Tigers to match the cubs deal.

    problem is we need pitching not hitting... no doubt Swisher or Hamilton would increase our depth but we are way to thin in starting pitching dept and even though i like the idea of the kids pitching if they dont pan out their confidence will get shot badly ... need to tread them carefully

    exactly my point. i was thinking 13 mill but 15 mill is not a farcry, we need to get 1 starter that has shown some poise and the list was Greinke Haren Sanchez Jackson .. rest are not a sureshot... We need to get Anibal Sanchez. i can see the rotation get pretty solid with him..

    that name is Anibal Sanchez. his 2012 salary was 8 million. give that guy 13mill a year for first 3 years and 4th and 5th with incentives on completing innings etc 5 year 70 mill.. seems like no one is in the market to give him a 100 mill deal.. or we give him a 1 year deal 1 year 13 mill so he can test the market out again since he is not getting any offers or it would seem that way.

    9.82 career aint that bad either.. cant wait for some young guns like DeLa Rosa Webster and Sands to play ... i hope that Bard turns it around too, but i am not counting on it.. Farrell has a big job to get him and Lester back to what they used to be.. really hoping he gets it done.

    well I agree and disagree with you, Napoli even though its short years i do agree he shouldnt have gotten anything more than 36 mill. same with Victorino. but Victorino is going to be a big upgrade for us in defense if he is going to play Cody Ross's position. and Gomes bat will give us the production.. I am optimistic right now but I am really hoping we get another solid pitching arm.. need to trade Salty Jacoby to get a solid arm..

    trading Ells might be the right idea but i fear he is going to end up in yankee uniform... since we dont want to go for 6 year deals and Ells will probably get that from stinking yanks

    Victorino is an upgrade defensively and on stolen bases compared to Cody. but the amount we paid for him is a little over board. 13mill for a player who has nothing to offer offensively. we could have played Bradley Jr for crying out loud and it wouldnt have made too much of a difference.. I dont think he has anything left offensively but i hope he proves me wrong..

    Nathan was good Broxton was a long shot. He is still dodgy at times so 9th inning in boston i dont think he could have couped with the pressure here. i agree that giving papelbon too much money was not going to work but he has the innings no of saves and era to back up his big paycheck...thats all I am saying...and he was a lock for the 9th inning

    no matter how you put it the FO screwed up when they let go of a guy who knows how to close in Boston. look at the stats for the amount of games we lost due the bullpen woes of Aceves/Bailey/Padilla last season we had a lockdown for 8th and 9th inning guys. add Tazawa for the 7th inning that would have been freaking amazing bullpen i know the money he was asking was little more but he could have easily gotten 4years/11 million by Boston and could have kept him with Boston due to the years he spent with us..

    Swisher is going to ask a 4-5 year deal. i thought we were trying to go away from that. i never understood why we let Alex or Orlando Cabrera walk away and we repeated that with Scutaro..
