I was talking about the start of the game. Bard was throwing way to many FB in the beginning of the game. If you go back (I really don't expect anybody to) but as soon as he started to mix in his breaking stuff I mentioned how much better he was doing. That was about the second inning. That said, the hits the Jays have gotten have been off FB's

Oh my God Ells was lucky on that 2-2 count. That was strike 3 and the ump sent one of his gifts our way. I cannot believe how terrible that ump is.

I don't know. The Red Sox and their inability to deal with the SS position is one of the mysteries of the universe. Rarely have gotten it right....... ever!!

Well truth be told, Bard was up in the zone with his FB right from the first inning and was throwing to many FB to boot. All those early hits were FB up in zone and he was not tired at that point. He needs to have more confidence in his other pitches and mix them in and he could really use the help of an experienced catcher. Where are you Crash Davis when we need you?

On the other hand Drabek has had the Sox off balance as he is throwing off speed for strikes and the Sox can't sit on anything.

Remy is right about Bard needing to throw more off speed mixed in. Said that right from the first inning. The hits they are getting is off FB in bad locations. Granted they are balls being beaten into the ground but they are hit hard enough to get through the infield. So they are getting wood on the ball.

True Bard grooved that 0-2 pitch. That plagued him in ST as well. It is like his management of the game from the mound is just not there. Lacks concentration in some cases. However Salty is just no help at all. This is a matter of the battery having to do a better job of managing the game, not just the pitcher.

Agreed....many of these are turf hits and while Bard has been up in the zone a few times the Jays are still hitting these billiard shots...nothin' solid.
