My biggest issue with this starting pitching is that while we call our 1,2,3 big for us I think the overall effect as a group is that they are a 2. Lester is not consistent enough to be a 1 yet or at least has not proven it yet, (not this year or last)...Beckett does not go deep in games enough in games any longer to be a 1 (did not last year and don't think he will this year) and Buch is more like a blend of a 3 and 4 and maybe even a 5.
Oddly enough, competitively speaking our 4 and our 5 may well turn out to be better than what other teams bring to the table in the 4 and 5 spots.
But that is still OK with me. I never expected this team to be strong from the mound. As stated before that is not how they were constructed to win games. They were constructed to win games with offense and that has been the biggest disappointment so far.
