Hopefully Ace will make quick work of this.....Must be driving Detroit fans nuts that they are not putting up runs at all. Guess there is a limit on how big and how slow you can be. This does look something like the Detroit team of Cecil's era though......big big guys that really can't move very much and that you just have to keep from hitting home runs cause that is all they are going to hit.

For my part my issues with Gonzo have nothing to do with being in a slump. My issues with Gonzo are that slump or no he makes monumentally poor plate appearances.....stupid plate appearances. When he is going good it is not as noticeable but you can still see it if you allow yourself to get past the stuff you like. Then when he is going badly he exacerbates the situation again because he makes such piss poor plate appearances. It should be embarrassing to him that Nava makes better plate appearances than he does by a mile. That is why these days when guys have to get him out...he is in the main an out because they just bare down a bit...and lead him around the plate like a puppet. There is such a list of s*** he does poorly at the plate that makes him an easy out and that does bother the s*** out of me. He could put himself in a position to see better pitches to hit and more pitches to hit and could make it more of a riddle for pitchers to figure him out. He does none of that and he is not a riddle for anybody. It seems to me that he is gong to stubbornly continue this way and if he breaks out of it still making piss poor plate appearances so be it. The mighty AGons concedes nothing to nobody. So be it. Just don't expect me to give him a pass for it. Notice I have not even touched on the issue of his power hitting which now seems non-existant at present.

Or at least with 2 strikes don't leave the ball up in the zone like that...for Christ's sake that could just as easily been Prince trotting around the bases with an RBI scoring ahead of him for a 5-4 score.

Damn it Miller..all he had to do was keep the ball down to Prince and he was carting that bat back to the bat rack

He is burning him up tonight. What is the use of having the best pitcher in baseball out there with close to 100 pitches when he is pitching like some low level #5 starter? His breaking ball actually sucks tonight and while he has had velo on the FB his location has for the most part sucked. I hope the Sox get another RBI hit here cause that is what Leyland deserves

Hard to imagine Bard holding it together past 6...maybe at the outside....MAYBE I do think the way the Tigers are swinging....it is a case of Saltyitus. Lets not kid ourselves....Verlander has been very hittable tonight...his breaking ball particularly has been total meat and the FB was up in the zone to Nava. In fact Youk like Mike an inning or so ago was sitting heat when Verlander hung yet another curve ball up there to him. Can't blame either guy for sitting heat against Verlander but both of those could easily been over the monster.

that was another bad mistake pitch to Agons....in truth the pitch to Nava was up in the zone as well but Nave did work him for that hit. Another bad breaking ball to Papi. Looks like we got him on an off night....although....been a different pitcher since Papi banged that grounder off of him.

Got Cabrera on the same kinda' pitch Bard has been throwing most of the RF hitters. So did he hand something to Peralta? What happened there? I missed it walkin the damn dog.

Missed most of what was happening in this inning but Bard has had a good formula for the RH hitters this game although Cabrera did almost hurt us last time
