Salty has not been able to stay off that curve. I usually don't like first pitch swinging much but Salty should have been sitting fast ball and hammered that first pitch...now he is going to work himself to 2 strikes and fail

What floors me about Gonzo is that he had already gone an entire half season powerless and regardless of what they thought might be wrong and regardless of what both he and they thought they could do about it, none of that has changed. One thing is for sure....the player knows what this is....either he is not being honest with himself or the team or everybody on the team knows exactly what is going on and they are not going to tell anybody outside the organization. All the public discussions would lead you to believe that this is not injury because they have not addressed it like injury at all....they have addressed it as a slump....well he is seeing better pitches, he is patient at the plate again and he is getting hits....still no power. Shoulder is a big joint. Whether he has any pain or discomfort or not, he may never be the same hitter again.

Players actually know what they are and what they are not in spite of what they might say. Aviles takes to much time fielding ground balls because he knows he is not a smooth fielder and knows he stands a good chance of booting the play if he does not take his time....that costs him DP's. Punto likely did not throw it cause he knew he stood a good chance of throwing it away. Same thing.

Much like Frank in the first game, expecting young LH pitchers not to make a few mistakes to this RH lineup is a lot to ask for.

At this point ya' wonder about having stacked the two lefties back to back....both young starters....plus putting Punto second in the order...apparently V likes these motivational moves like Salty batting 4th but at least Salty has been hitting HR's and I could harken back to days when managers would occasionally but a guy with power and low BA in the 4 hole but what has Punto done to suggest that batting him 2nd would be something that has a prayer of working?

Can't pitch....what are ya' gonna do. How long have some of been saying over this last month...wait till these pitchers have to face some teams that can hit. The numbers I quoted earlier obviously include the so called good pitching performances of late. By the time they get out of this series the starters will likely be at the bottom of baseball in ERA.
