  1. Please don't bunt here
  2. Crawford must not have much of a lead...not even a struggle to get back
  3. Funny but Crawford must not be totally used to the new stance yet. Sometimes he is so far away from the old open stance that it is not even close but other times it is actually much closer to last years stance....sometimes in the very same at bat.
  4. Boy does Padilla look comfortable tonight....must be the excessive heat...gotta' believe he likes it cause he is throwing like he loves it.
  5. And do we remember how Cook got his leg all gashed up?
  6. s***....this team could not manufacture a run if it had a damned assembly line. Just not what they do....very frustrating but just not what they do....and V seems almost to have bought into being snake bit cause he does not seem to even force the issue that much anymore.
  7. No question in my mind...assumed future rookie slump and all...I want Ciriaco at SS
  8. Well if you are looking for a rational for the increased K's it is right in a number of the posts made since Salty made a subtle change in his approach to plate appearances. He has gone to swinging for the fences every cut. That is why his HR totals were climbing until pitchers caught on and started to pitch him where the bat ain't gonna' be. They have made it much harder now for that approach to pay off but I still think it is the best way for Salty to go. A few more ground outs instead of K's not gonna' make any real difference.
  9. Does that Salty target not drive you right up the wall or what?
  10. That was really really close to as much of a mistake as Salty can expect from here on out. Pitchers either need to get in under his hands...not hard to do.....or low and outside or occasionally up and in which he can't get around on. That one got way to much plate and Salty hit it way up in the air. They don't seem to even try up and in anymore....I guess they are worried they will miss with that pitch and put it right in his wheelhouse.
  11. If Salty would put the damn mitt on the black more often Cook would get more pitches.
  12. Good observation about Sox success against junkballers......you can't really say every junkballer has it goin' on just when he pitches against the Sox....the Sox have really had a tough time with junkballers....but I do think it does line up with not taking what the pitcher gives you. Not many Sox hitters take what the pitcher gives them...many of our hitters have a particular idea of what they want to do when they go to the plate and they really don't allow for what the pitcher will allow them to do. As I have said many times in the past, they are just not that good....and hardly anybody is but they are consistent.
  13. Protecting with two strikes now....HR watch off
  14. Unless this guy really keeps it down to Ells he could be Ells first HR
  15. Both of these guys are so hittable if they are up at all in the zone but both have for the most part kept it down or had the ball hit right at somebody. Oh God I wish Ciriaco was swinging at that first pitch....that was an extra base hit ball
  16. 30+ is where I thought Salty was going when he started swinging for the fences on every pitch.....now even with the start he has had I don't think he will get there. Every pitcher he faces is going to be able to hit that spot that gives him trouble because its actually a pretty big spot. Like I said earlier, the pitchers don't even appear compelled to move his eye level so chances are not great that they will make a mistake to him that allows him to hit it out. Best chances he will get from here on out are low outside pitches that are up in the zone that allow him to kick it opposite field batting from the left.
  17. To your point Pal......one thing I don't like about the way Salty gives his pitcher a target is that he does not really move him in or out. He sort of sets up just inside of middle or just outside of middle even with a pitcher like Cook who he should be showing the glove to on the black and Salty simply does not do that enough even with a guy like Cook. If you are the catcher you cannot expect the pitcher to aim for your wrist or some damn thing....ya gotta put the glove where you need the ball to be.
  18. Cook is lucky not to be down a run cause he certainly grooved at least one of those to youk....who just did not get it out.
  19. Now that was a terrible pitch to Youk. Why even go there...you have already showed him inside and gotten away with it....so all you needed to do was miss that pitch by a couple of inches to have youk touching all four.....stupid
  20. Certainly setting youk up for the low and away but missed it
  21. Just far enough inside to leave Youk nowhere to put that. This is such a tough park to pitch in when the RH hitter does not fear you. Did not see Youks foot anywhere near in the bucket on that one
  22. Axlerod up in the zone actually looks a little more hittable than Cook looks when he is up. Axlerods ball is dead flat at 80something MPH
  23. Cook aimed that ball which I can see was not on your list there SFF Yea I did think Salty was going to start to K like crazy as well....just did not want to claim it since for once I had plenty of company. So I thought I would acknowledge the company. To be honest he is even K'ing more than I thought he would and I was prepared for some pretty ugly numbers.
  24. Well Ross is a pretty regular K against RH pitchers and Salty is just getting K'd by anybody that can find that particular spot....so ya' against a RH pitcher it could be a pretty big hole in the lineup. Stlll better to bunch your good hitters though and that does tend to leave a hole someplace else.
  25. Damn...I think you guys that have been suggesting that this is what we will likely see from Salty here on out might be right. Everybody he faces now just keeps feeding him same pitch same spot....they don't even make an effort to move his eye level up and down.
