  1. So now I gotta wake up to this crap? We can't even have a single day of relative happiness as in....Lester actually has a decent start....Lavs maybe does look like the catcher of their future (at least behind the plate) and we get a win over the yanks but No..... Apparently, Agons who I guess needs some sort of caretaker now says that he did text ownership from his phone or I should say that AGons now claims that Shop crafted a text that included the list of player complaints and concerns and that Shop then went on to text it from Agons phone.....but that he Agons never read the text before it went out! As the story goes, a group of players had been grumbling about V all season long and while Agons was not active in the group it appears that he offered the services of his phone since a text from a prominent player to ownership would have more impact than a text from the backup catcher's phone. He then goes on to claim that he did not review the contents of the text before the send button was hit. Have you folks heard this crap this morning? What the f*** is wrong with these guys? Yes, no doubt the ability to hit a baseball does not imply much going on between the ears but are they really this stupid? You want me to believe that you let somebody text a message to your bosses, the owners of the team, but you are now going to deny the contents of that text? Well either you were disingenuous in allowing somebody to use your phone that way in that you were implying to your bosses that these were your sentiments without knowing what was even in the text or you are disingenuous now in attempting to distance yourself from those sentiments. Take you pick which kind of disingenuous you want to be...stupid and disingenuous or just disingenuous. So now we are back where we were...since nobody with a brain believed JH's story that he was the genesis for this meeting in NY to begin with nor did anybody with a brain believe that this was just one in a series of regular meetings held to discuss ways to improve the team. The genesis was the players and most specifically was a text from Agons phone (no wonder people thought him the ringleader). But that is still not enough. The children still cannot own up to themselves. Now while Agons admits the text came from his phone and that was the genesis of this whole ridiculous mess, he also claims he never read the text before it went out. Double stupid on all fronts was the notion that this and likely more than this was not going to get out with more denials and more dumb-ass comments from the whole miserable tribe....management and players. All from a team struggling to nudge back to 500 and stay out of the basement.

  3. They won't move Ells off of lead off. That is why I end up resigning myself to some of this s*** and just makin' the best of it. At least I get to see Ciriaco moving on the bases since he is down in the order where the Stogy Sox are not so reluctant to allow him to use his speed. This team is done this year anyway and if they move Ciriaco to the top of the order then it will only be a game or two watching their s*** when the steam will start comin' outta' my ears. As for Iggy I get the distinct impression that if during a presser somebody asked BC about him BC's response would be "Iggy Who"?
  4. He's hideous. The only thing I can credit Salty for is that he has improved his throwing this year...but that is it...everything else is a screaming disaster.
  5. I think I would agree that the differences one catcher to the next should not be that great but Salty is so terrible....not only does he tend to set up late but he sets up just about every time, about an inch or two one way or the other of the middle of the plate. Pitchers grow used to aiming for the middle of the mitt. It is what they do. Where the catcher puts it is where the pitcher is going to try to throw it.
  6. I actually like Ceriaco down in the order. He has speed and the Sox are not as reluctant to use speed down in the order as they are at the top of the order. The guys at the top of the order are to close to the middle of the order. Doesn't matter if those guys are turtles or rabbits, cause the Sox refuse to turn them loose. All you get outta' them is more ability to go first to third or get home on a hit...but actually steal a base...put on a play...forget it....a rare occurrence around these parts.
  7. Here we go...Lester throws it right down main street...to get beat that bad, to have it crushed like that you have got to throw an awful pitch.....
  8. I have not timed in between innings NESN compared to Fox but Fox has got to be stuffing a bunch more commercials between half innings...they seem ridiculously long.
  9. The info that was out there was that Crawford had asked for it a couple of weeks ago. I suspect they are claiming he is asking because they don't want to own up to having taken so long to finally approve.
  10. Crawford was a horrible, horrible signing....the problem with Lackey is that much like Crawford and Agons, he had a known injury issue at the time of the signing.....like Crawford an elbow issue that was likely to be getting worse whereas in Agons case a shoulder that while operated on was still on the mend. All three players got all the money with Crawford getting all the money+++++. Not only did Lackey get all the money but he is a contact pitcher coming to the worst division for a contact pitcher. If I were the Sox I would have looked at other top rated pitchers in that FA season and gone with someone that was more of a power pitcher in spite of the fact that Lackey was at the top of the list for pitchers in his FA season. If there were none available....I would not have offered Lackey all the money. That probably means I would not have been able to sign him....maybe....who knows. The Sox offered Crawford so much money that nobody else was even in the running. We really no longer know what anybody would have signed these guys for since the Sox have blown their contracts all out of proportion. At any rate, if we did not sign Lackey because somebody else offered him more money would we be fine with that or not? I sure as well would be fine with that. Did not like either the Crawford signing or the Lackey signing at the times they were made. I was OK with the Agons signing at the time other than concern for how that shoulder would work out. To be honest I very likely would not have signed any of the three because I would have allowed my concerns for their injury status to be an issue in what I offered. I would not have made Crawford any offer at all. I would have offered Lackey less money and would have passed eventually unless I was desperate for his arm. I would love to have known if AGons could have been signed for less. Obviously we will never know. Crawford is obviously doing pretty well these days but it is still in my view a horrible signing. AGons is doing pretty well although he now has recovered complete plate coverage and is hitting to all fields and still is not anywhere close to the power hitter we thought we were getting even with that recent mini-spurt of Agons power. We have no idea what the hell Lackey is or will be at this point. I think there are reasons other than baseball reasons why the Sox insisted on making these three signings. Also if there is one thing evidenced by Carl Crawford it is the complete joke that the Gold Glove award has become. Crawford can be best described as being on safari in left field.....without a compass.....or a guide.
  11. Aviles at SS and Salty at Catcher...it is almost like the Red Sox decided to do their own study....call it a Fenwaymatic on what happens if you put hideous defenders at the two most important defensive positions on the field. There are no specific numbers that spit out of a Fenwaymatric. You just get....."this sucks" for an answer.
  12. If I have to see that stupid Swisher grin one more time in these next two days I am just gonna' puke.
  13. There TV and Radio revenue will take a hit next year as it will be based on this year's results. I am sure that viewership is down...just based on participation here. The word is that season ticket holders cannot unload their tickets for anything and in this economy I suspect that is also going to impact season ticket sales next year. While they have not as yet killed the golden goose I think they have finally plucked it bare....at least I hope so. Bricks have been cut to half price if anybody cares. Probably the only people that care were those that bought them for $150.00 each. They are now $75.00 each and I suspect they won't sell at that price either. Hope the price sinks like a rock.
  14. I do agree that the Management of this organization tried to get away with murder this year. Figuring they would make it into at least the one game play in....maybe make it past that based on the ever popular...anything can happen logic and then if they lost in the first round declare the season a success. Funny thing is that most would have bought that hook, line and sinker without recognizing that a team constructing to barely compete in the regular season is wholly unqualified for post season play. Catching fire or getting hot if you will like the Cards did takes way more team than the Sox were fielding this year...another situation people insisted was analogous that was never analogous. I am so disheartened by what this franchise is allowed to get away with because they likely really don't have a reason to change. They will just spin another tale and we will buy into it in enough numbers to make the whole damn thing work for them. This last episode of disgusting lies and skullduggery tells me that they have no conscience whatsoever and will continue to sheer us as long as we act like sheep.
  15. I am beginning to think that Sox Management gave up on this season before it ever started. It is so obvious that they were gambling like crazy on the rotation and if you are going to gamble like crazy on the rotation why would you decide to be solid elsewhere? Ya' gotta' start where it all starts (pardon the pun). By the time it is all over, I predict that the rotation will have lost a staggering amount of games in total. I guess they will have to for people to take off their blinders and realize that the rotation issues this year go way deeper than Beckett and Lester.
  16. Honest to God I hate the way this team is put together. What a misfit, mismatched bunch of players. But while the FO takes the blame for that....the game is won or lost on the field.....the way they play is horrifying. They have my eleven year old little leaguer rolling on the floor most nights. Even he is smart enough to feel bad for Pedey.
  17. Thank you Soxsport....I have been waiting for somebody to notice that Salty's target is usually two inches either side of dead middle. What does he expect them to do...throw at his shinguard?
  18. As long as they don't pay Ross the ridiculous money some folks were talking about earlier this year, he is a good keep for the Sox. I would predict that if kept for a similar length of time, Ross, even with his limitations, will get more significant hits...meaning game changing hits than some of these overpriced guys who will pad their numbers at meaningless times in meaningless contests but will not do much more than that.
  19. Crawford is on safari in LF again
  20. Always knew this lineup would miss any combination of two of WMB, Pedey and Ortiz more than it would miss Ells and CC. Ross only makes a dif against LH pitchers. Agons had his little mini-power run there but they are not even pitching around him and he has not been able to drive the ball out very often. Is hitting to all fields again and does not exhibit any vulnerabilities inside or outside but still has not really exhibited any significant power hitting. Salty is well....Salty. Pedey is about all there is at this point.
  21. Mort just does not have much going for him....All he can do is try to be perfectly fine...something like Cook only worse.
  22. These last two half innings the Sox are going down whimpering again.
  23. God damn it...that was a very good piece of hitting...but if you are going to be that transparent about what you are going to throw...just have to keep being perfect with it. That was not a perfect pitch...good but not perfect and hittable if you know its coming. Sox pitchers awful single minded about what they are throwing tonight...to a fault. At 0-2 he could have mixed in a FB off the plate if he wanted to and at least that would have put some doubt in the hitters mind. I don't think I saw Mort shake anything off...so Salty is likely calling the game this way as well.
  24. Nice job Mort...he did not give in to Martin there....
  25. Oh shitttttt please do not throw another one of those
