  1. WMB is pressing again. When he goes into a little mini-slump he tends to press and makes it worse.
  2. I just walked in..do you mean this angle on the batter between pitchers? I don't like this last minute switch to a camera in center field either. Hate it when the various networks think they have a better idea than what has worked for decades. Just stop please.
  3. Having Lester go against Price is not a bad idea. The Rays are really a frustrating team to play. Early n the season their bullpen is usually a mess that becomes a plus for them a couple of months in.
  4. Price vs Lester..another pitching treat for us.
  5. I think Fox is the only station carrying this game today. No NESN. Maybe an MLB package has it but so far I have only found Fox with it. 12:30 telecast. Probably means 1:05 for first pitch.
  6. The Yanks just looked to be outgunned but they were not really lackluster....just undermanned. Four games does not a season make. I suspect the Yanks are still going to struggle with so many guys on the shelf regardless of having won the last four games. They can still pitch to some extent. If another guy goes down in the rotation they are really in trouble. Besides I don't think there is a fountain of youth somewhere built into the new stadium. Petite's age is likely to catch up to him at some point this year. They apparently got some good news on Tex. It sounds like the worst case scenario is off the table and he is likely back not just in May but early May for that matter. As for Jays pitching I think JJ will be fine. Dickey will have the usual problems that knucklers have in the AL East. Buehrle is the guy that I think will really struggle over here.
  7. I don't know who might have heard by now but Reyes is gone from the Jays for 1-3 months with a ripped up ankle. Best player they had so far and......gone! How many times do guys get hurt trying to decide between going into a base standing or sliding and then making the final choice too late. To me it is just stupid anyway. Go in sliding on a stolen base attempt. There is no decision there. The runner is trying to decide if he has the base stolen by enough to go in standing...... why?????? Chances are so slim that the runner is going anyplace from there. Just decide that trying to steal a base means you are gonna' slide and leave it at that. I have seen so many guys injured in exactly the same way. Sorta' feel sorry for the Jays in a way. They are one of the teams trying to get there without the cash to go large every year. Took their shot this year and the whole thing looks like it is going to crumble right in front of them. Something is wrong up there anyway. That team looked dead when we played them...lifeless. Something was already f***ed up for them to be playing with such a lack of enthusiasm in a year when you would have expected just the opposite. Now Reyes is gone.
  8. One silver lining is not having to play the Rays for four straight. This can be a very frustrating team to play and four straight can be tough. They have a particular style of play. Clearly they feature their pitching and they put a good deal of pressure on teams because of it. You keep waiting for the runs to come and they just don't. Often when the runs do come, it is your pitching that has broken down and the Rays that are crossing the plate. As much as I look forward to seeing what this year's Sox can do with this year's Rays, I would just as soon not have to play them four straight right now.
  9. The only problem I have with people jumping on Soxsport for his comment on Ortiz is that it is an internet discussion board for crying out loud. Jumping on the guy for a comment like that made on a board about a guy that is known to have juiced is ridiculous. Soxsport simply commented that Ortiz "may be" juicing. Face it. If Soxsport had made exactly the same comment using exactly the same tone about a known Yankee past user, we would likely have seen for or five posts piling on to that post and not a single dissenting comment. These guys are not sacred cows. They are baseball players with millions of $$$$$ being dangled under their noses and their culture has become one focused on counting the dead presidents as a means of establishing a hierarchy within their community of players. So don't tell me that a guy that has proven to have used in the past is not at least fair game for a comment that is only a suggestion that it is not out of the question. That is all Soxsport did. Soxsport does not need anymore evidence for that than he already has IMO.
  10. We have freezing rain, nearly snow in Southern NH. Must be close to as bad in Boston although it is likely a little warmer.
  11. Well I think complaining about home plate balls and strikes calls is justified but i really do think that the umps that are bad are universally bad for everybody. Sometimes the timing is worse. JBJ was struck out twice a couple nights ago. He eventually walked and scored. That bit of behind the plate blindness may well have won the Sox that game. I definitely get complaining about the guys that are bad. Barrett drives me absolutely up the wall for example. But I do think the guys that are bad are just bad....always.
  12. Why did they get Gomes...A mistake I think...he will punish us almost every time we see him with a glove on his claw IMO. That is not to say, we had good choices for LF but how the Sox convinced themselves that Gomes would hold up in LF even as a platoon is beyond me.
  13. Royals start 6-3. Jays start 3-6. Go figure. Iggy definitely helps the D at SS but I think Nava would have been steadier in LF than JBJ has been. JBJ has booted about four balls in the outfield, one for an error. He has actually made more mistakes out there than plays out there. JBJ is definitely better than Gomes but so is a shoe horn. If Nava continues to hit, Gomes should still have trouble breaking into the lineup when JBJ goes down. Nava should get the bulk of the play out there at that point. Now Nava is not a great choice either but the whole Gomes thing and the Sox "plan" for LF appears to be the weakest part of the offseason player adds the Sox brought here at least IMO.
  14. NESN continues the post game tradition of interviewing somebody from the enemy if they win. "Just how did you f*** us right in the eyeball?" I cannot stand that. Just interview a Sox player or nobody please.
  15. Ya' knew that was coming
  16. Nice job Wilson.....Hey maybe he can start!!! Just kidding
  17. Oh my God a GBDP. Needed that
  18. What is this his Miller impression
  19. Hawk is my second least favorite to that idiot from NY...Mr "Vernon Wells rings the bells". What an embarrassment...plus I have not been able to get that f***in' call outta' my head since I first heard it. Imagine if we had to hear that s*** here....Nava....hits flow like lava.... I'd have to get in the bathtub and open my veins.
  20. That seems to be the weakest part of Naps hitting game so far. He has been beaten upstairs more than I expected.
  21. Jesus Christ...it's another WP but can't Salty keep anything within reach? Thing either goes to the backstop of clonks off of him somewhere.
  22. I don't like these cold weather games. Dell is wearing too much clothing.
  23. Pen suddenly looks kinda' short when one guy is spot starting and the closer is on the shelf having tossed too many the night before.
  24. Yup...what else is new.
  25. Oh Boy.....Mr. Cheerily Oblivious Miller. Hopefully won't take his usual eight pitches to figure out he is no longer in the pen and these actually count!
