  1. Toronto trying to show it can field worse than the Tigers did. Hey anything you guys can do, we can do worse!
  2. Just a little bit up for Salty...couple inches lower and boy is that Salty's pitch
  3. One thing I have noticed about the Jays is that at least the way they are playing right now. They are super aggressive at the plate. I don't think it was a good approach against Lester and I doubt it will be a good approach against (10 pitch inning) Webster. Wonder if they will adjust as soon as the 2nd inning. Hopefully not as I think early swings may actually help Webster.
  4. I suppose it does take some amount of courage to watch "Hang Dog" Webster head out to the mound looking like the world is perched on his shoulders with the weight pushing him down to the floor. Maybe he will be tip top this time out......I would not bet the house on it.
  5. I missed a good part of this game as I had to leave right after the Jays had scored their first two runs. Did Lester actually leave the game because of injury or was that something announced later on? Is he supposed to be OK? At the start of this game, Lester was pitching with so much confidence. It is like night and day with him. It is like everything falls into place and he is just pitching instead of groping for his motion and everything else. It makes you wish that you could bottle up whatever it is that gives him that much confidence and just sprinkle it on him before each game. It can't be his warm ups can it? I mean he has pitched long enough in the ML's to know that you can have a great session warming in the pen and get bombed when you start the game or have a terrible session warming, come in and pitch lights out.
  6. Pedey....ridiculous as usual. What a year he is having.
  7. Lester appears to have gotten the message about attacking the zone...at least it looks like it at present.
  8. Wow, what a bush league play by Joey.
  9. Drew seems to get to 2 strikes in the blink of an eye.
  10. Boy it must be tough on a ML ballplayer especially a pitcher if you cannot tolerate anti-inflamatories. Buch got a stomach ulcer last year taking them. So taking them for this bursa sac issue is likely out of the question. At least they know where Buch is as opposed to looking at him every couple days wondering if he can go. This almost sounds like trying to throw with the sore neck caused him to favor the injury and resulted in the inflammation.
  11. Jeez I really don't see how the Dempster deal looks bad in retrospect, at least not based on half a season. There was not much to choose from out there and if the Sox had gone big ticket and long on term with just about anybody we would likely be skewering them something royal even now. I just think it is really difficult these days to find a guy that you are going to short pay that is going to be a solid part of your rotation. Dempster may not be more than that but he is that. It is only a two year deal as well. So there is the length of contract penalty to consider as well. Plus and lastly I don't think people are jumping on Soxsport and I don't think Soxsport is wrong either. Dempster is overpaid. So is every other starting pitcher that is not downright horrible. Heck even some that are downright horrible are overpaid.
  12. Take notes Jon Lester....Lackey just showed you what it means to "attack the strike zone".
  13. Maybe Oswalt and his agent strategically avoided coming to an AL team all these years. Would not be complete surprise.
  14. I still think Lackey is throwing harder than he was before TJ although I guess Bradford still thinks otherwise. While he may have been hitting 94 previously I can't remember 95 from him at all.
  15. Just as well. That is where his pitches end up anyway. Why waste time and effort?
  16. Some guys often make out via the K. Others often make out via the GB. I do not think I can remember a guy making out via the infield fiy as often as Drew.
  17. Nice to see Nava get any kind of hit with that screwed up wrist.
  18. I don't think Bergeron could have gone in game 7. He was taken from game 6 in an ambulance and with three injuries that severeI don't think he could have gone. Plus, now we know that it was not entirely fatigue that had Z basically motionless. He has some sort of severe hip injury. Those two players plus Rask are the three most important players on the Bruins roster. Take two of them off the table and combine that with the way the Hawks were playing and I really don't see the Bruins having a chance. In fact I suspect game 7 would have been an embarrassment. This Bruins team has given too much and done too much to end up embarrassed. Bruins had a great season and they don't owe me a thing as a fan. Just as soon not see them put in a bad situation in Chicago. Noticed today all sorts of people wanting to get rid of this Bruin and that Bruin. Total BS. Hawks skating game was just too much for the depleted Bruins to handle. However going after individual players and wanting to run them out of town makes no sense.
  19. Actually SFF I would never expect the Sox to just give WMB away or DFA him. Giving up on the player in this context would mean a trade. But if he is not doing very much, the Sox would not get back much for him. Then if another team did help get him straightened out, the Sox would enc up with the short end of the stick with the acquiring team ending up with a real bargain.
  20. I can see an argument for sending WMB down at this point. Hopefully he will get some help to go along with the playing time. I hope WMB gets more than playing time in Pawtucket. He needs a plan for one thing. I never could find out if Iggy converted to the more compact swing he uses now vis the assistance of somebody in Pawtucket or if he adopted it on his own. Lavs sounds like he was left to his own devices . WMB needs help. Hope he gets some.
  21. Like I said earlier, Hawks have been beating the Bruins in front of the net. Bruins are just gassed and are covering nobody in front of Rask. Hawks will win this Stanley Cup and I have to admit they are going to have earned it. Just outplayed the Bruins when it counted and where it counted. Bruins simply played horrible defense in front of Rask when they needed to be at their best defensively. I don't see how the Bruins would have beaten the Hawks on their ice in game 7 anyway.
  22. As this game moves along the Bruins have no answer for the Hawks skating. The Hawks are in and out of the corners with the puck before a Bruin can get there to play their heavy hitting game. The game looks like the Bruins have control but only because they have possession of the puck more than the Hawks. However they can't do anything with it and it just takes one rush by the Hawks and BANG the puck is in the back of the Bruins net. Bruins are being put in a real bad spot as they really don't have a way to survive without Chara's defense but the minutes appear to have finally taken their toll. Chara cannot stay out there for more than one trip up and not even a trip back and he is gassed. I won't be at all surprised if the Hawks score the winning goal with Chara on the ice as he has turned into a stalled truck with Hawks buzzing all around him. He just can't move.
  23. Bruins offensive ineptitude which has haunted them this entire final series is once again a real problem. Four power plays...no goals. They can't find the net with the puck when it is a gapping wide open hole. In the meantime the Hawks sidle up to Chara, take the puck off his skate down the ice and ram the thing into the net. They have taken it off his stick at least three times in this game and that does not include whacky Chara passes that the Hawks have jumped on. Bruins puck handling is basically abysmal. Ice is crummy but it is crummy for both teams. 1-1 tie and scary.
