  1. Everybody is going to beat the yanks going down the stretch. They will be fighting with the Jays for last.
  2. Man what an ordeal. One more to go tomorrow. Easy to see why the Rays are winning so many three game series. Moore and Price take two and then Mr. AKA and Helickson are left to try to win one or two.
  3. Salty could set up a little earlier to take the throw from the outfield instead of looking like he is standing on s street corner waiting for a bus.
  4. Christ what an inning
  5. Hardest play in the outfield is the line drive right at you. I am embarrassed to say that when they stuck me in CF in an emergency in high school (I was an infielder but I was fast and had a good arm) the first one of those I had hit at me, went right over my head!!!! I actually came in a step. Had I backed up two steps it would have just landed in my glove. Uber---embarrassing.
  6. Anybody know what happened to the Rays SP that got tagged right in the head...Cobb I think.....Is he still on the shelf or is he pitching for the Rays now also?
  7. Seems to me that BC should be able to bag a reliever or two without digging into the pool of prospects the organization wants to keep. That of course was easier to tap out on the keyboard than it will be for BC. However I would think he could get pieces that we need at an acceptable price.
  8. I guess I don't know the kind of player you are talking about 700. It sounds like somebody that would require Workman plus. Just not sure which guy or guys are in the discussion.
  9. By the end of this year, Lackey's age will be a factor that won't help him but presuming he does get through this year, he will have a year post TJ healthy and via the 2011 season a reputation for having pitched under extreme duress and considerable pain. I have to think getting through the year healthy, having worked very hard to get back on the field post TJ combined now with a reputation for taking the ball every time under extreme circumstances enhances his value. I think there is a clear line of demarkation developing between the Pedey/Lackey guys of the league and the antithesis of the Pedey/Lackey guys of the league and I can't imagine it not having an impact on value. Not saying the Sox should necessarily shop Lackey after this season but I would just not be too fast to dismiss him as not having value as a trade chip as long as he gets through this season healthy.
  10. It's the injury concern for me too Station...combined with the giant price tag.
  11. If Peavey or less are the only options for a starting pitcher I don't see why the Sox have to make that move. Peavey costs a fortune and the Sox have buckets of guys that are less than a Peavey. Just does not make sense. The only way it would have made sense is if, Buch came back with a report saying he is truly injured with a very good chance that they would get nothing from him for the remainder of the season. or.... If the Phillies decided they would part with Lee. That would be an overpay worth considering.
  12. Really good start for Lester. Crossed Madden up completely. I would bet anything Madden had the Rays hitters all geared up for the two strike cutter that rarely came the way they were swinging. Not sure he threw more than a couple with two strikes. What happened Joe....outsmart yourself did ya'!
  13. Iggy's bat finds the ball....don't lose that bat Iggy.
  14. Iggy has got to bend his knees and get the bat on the same plane with the baseball. He is not going to get pitches above the belt line every at bat and even when he does...who cares....he does not have HR power. Those usually end up fly ball....OUTS. An uppercut swing at pitches at or above the belt does Iggy little good. He continually either takes pitches below the belt line in the zone or swings over them which is causing him to hit more of those ground ball outs again. Pedey wants Iggy's stance to be upright in the box but Pedey is about the best there is at bending his knees to get the bat on plane for the low strike. Iggy needs to do the same or at least do some of the same.
  15. In fact the swings the Rays RH hitters are taking suggest they are positive they are going to get that cutter but are getting that FB off the outer edge instead. Have to swing at it but with those swings, can't hit it with a boat oar.
  16. I would not have considered Webster or DLR for KRod under any circumstances. Cecchini might have been the closest to Delmonico if the Sox were doing that deal but mainly because the Sox have an abundance of left side infield guys. Brewers would not likely have been interested in less than Cecchini out of the Sox stable. Probably says more about the quality of the Sox stable at this moment. We have some good prospects in the system right now.
  17. Myers is expecting it no less.
  18. Thanks for the post SR. That is sorta' what it looked like to me. I would not have wanted to do that either.
  19. K-Rod would have fit pretty nicely here though and we would have had one of our two much needed relief pitchers. Wonder how Delmonico translates to a Sox prospect. Sounds like he has a good deal of development time ahead of him but is a pretty good prospect.
  20. Rarely see a pitch that bangs directly off that elbow pad....looked like Pedey got hit right on the thing.
  21. This must be a matrix that is unfamiliar to me....slice in half for the infield hits and slice it in half again....why???
  22. Lester is not pitching that badly so far. When he gets into those endless strings of 3-1 counts he is usually just a train wreck waiting to happen. Has not done that so far tonight.
  23. The thing I did not like about Lester's 1st inning is that he was compelled to show every pitch in his arsenal. Kind of unusual for a 1st inning.
  24. Well Lester pitched his best 1st inning of recent outings by a long margin but promptly gives up the gopher to Myers to start the 2nd. No middle ground for Jon. Either nipping on the edges or gopher ball city. That was a beautiful pitch for a RH batter to hit.
  25. Not saying it will happen but it won't take an epic collapse for the Sox to miss the post season. This has been in the works for years as the Western Division has continued to improve. Two teams will come out of that division, one out of the central and two out of the East. All the Sox need do is finish behind the Rays and O's and they will be out.
