  1. Man how did Gomes lay off of that.....WMB would have been swinging out of his socks
  2. What is it????...we have left 11 on and the Astros have only left 1 on....Jeez This has got extras written all over it
  3. Looked like Shane was real surprised at being tossed as well. Gomes is having a terrific game. Just get out of this inning and score more.
  4. Those glitter caps seem real popular in Houston. Just saw an older guy where an Astro's glitter cap. Saw two girls wearing Red Sox glitter caps at the game last night. I would bet you can't even buy those things anywhere around Fenway. I have never seen them at Fenway....then again, I would not be looking for them...just not me.
  5. Wish we were less than two outs here but this is still a shot at tying or going ahead. Plenty of time left to score enough to win.
  6. Wonder how many people use smart phones to post.....Less than half....more than half? Always surprised by how many people do post using them. So I bet it is more than we would think.
  7. This has not been a reversal game for Dempster either. He had not pitched well up to this point. Houston just can't do much. They are in the bottom third of just about every offensive category there is and that is MLB wide, not just the AL. but 2 runs through six innings against Houston.....Gotta' score more runs than that against this team. I knew we would need at least 6 in this game and it will take at least that many. We should be capable of that many against this team. Don't know what else to say. Wake up and score some runs or face the ignominious result of having Houston take 2/3 from us.
  8. Come on Ells...sitting on the breaking ball?? That did not make much sense.
  9. What pulls him through when he is not pitching all that great IMO is that the guy never gives up..he never gives in. He keeps trying to work his sequences to hitters and that goes a long long way. there are some guys we know that just throw up their hands and start throwing meatball after meatball. Dempster will make some bad pitches but you can tell that is what they are...bad pitches not white flags going up over the pitchers mound.
  10. The counter argument to the "give Demps the benefit of the doubt, he might be injured" possibility is that unlike where they were with Lackey in 2011, the Sox have options. If he were hurt, you would think the Sox would just put him on the DL and really try to get him right.
  11. Years and years of dealing with an oft broken body....mine! But do see somebody so you can find out what back component has been injured causing the muscle to spasm like that. For example, if a disc injury, the muscle spasms, literally trying to pull the vertebrae off the damaged disc, providing some relief for it. Your doctor will be able to tell you what is going on and help you prevent further injury. Rest and meds should get the muscle to stop spasming and whatever back component has been injured should calm back down again. But you really want to know what back component has gone bonkers on you so you can prevent further injury and make sure you have controlled this one.
  12. Has no idea where the outer third of the plate is. Calling pitches 6" off strikes.
  13. 3rd HR of the year!!! You have got to be s***ing me. I do think this will not be a low scoring game. I would bet we need at least 6 tonight and maybe more.
  14. Back spasm generally caused by another back injury causing the muscle to spasm. Usually, muscle relaxers like flexiril for the spasm, an anti-inflamitory for whatever else might be going on and rest...no lifting...no bending. But if I were you and had a back spasm I would see somebody. Again the muscle spasms in response to something like a disc being inflamed or something like that. You want to make sure you know what has caused the spasm.
  15. Jeez Drew, can you putz around outside the batters box a little more between pitches? We have all night anyway.
  16. Good example there of how one lousy ball/strike call can really change an inning. Houston starter in trouble in the first (always a good time to jump on the starter). Carp is up in the count and takes a called strike on a pitch way outside that would have been ball 4. Would have loaded the bases for Gomes. Instead Carp ends up grounding back to the mound to end the inning on the next pitch.
  17. I suspect we have another high scoring affair with the Sox coming out on top. Will Dempster make an effort to control the Astros running game? Surely guys are going to get on base. Seems like this is one team where the Sox would want to make more of an effort to slow them down on the bases.
  18. Oh come on Farrell...now you are making yourself look stupid. Now you want to tell us that because of the dome, Wright could not throw it and Lavs could not catch it? Please, let it go. It didn't work. Tell Wright and Lavs it was because of the dome to boost their spirits. Don't tell us that.
  19. What a picture....Maddon with those stupid glasses askew bent over the dugout being abused by a cactus.
  20. Its only the Stro's but man....when he came in Don and Jerry were saying that the Sox would piece together the rest of the game which made some sense. Piece together nothing. It has been Britton and more Britton. It was a night when the Sox had an opportunity to figure out what they possibly had in Wright as a starter. They found out they did not have a starter and did not have a catcher for him either. If anything Britton has been the positive note on the evening.
  21. At least in my case.....I hate seeing knuckleball pitchers in relief. Maybe one of the things that Wake will be able to take to his grave was his ability to both start and have decent success in relief as well. I really have no idea how the hell he pulled that off.
  22. Only NESN would stick its stupid f***ing polls up there right over home plate as the pitcher is pitching the baseball....unf***ing-believable.
  23. Remy...."we have seen just about everything in this game tonight Don". One thing for sure, regardless of what happens from here out this has been one of the most interesting, exciting and just plain fun seasons of baseball I have seen in a long time. If you have not enjoyed this, I would check to see if you have a pulse.
  24. Oh boy....unless Ortiz hits into a DP we get to see Naps come up again with RISP. Be still my heart.
