  1. Come on Rafi. Just pick on a good one
  2. X-man has future DH written all over him.
  3. Voit does that a lot. Dinks the balls on the outer third to the opposite field.
  4. Watch, after that play Rafi will get one right at his feet that hits him smack in the nose.
  5. Even average would feel wrong for the Sox fielders. They should be better than that except for the jacks of all trades, masters of none. The rest of them should be pretty good in the field. Instead they are flat awful.....AWFUL. Renfroe is all world defensively comparatively.
  6. Perez has to get it together right here.
  7. Perez is letting this inning get to him. Made some pitches to Frazier that he was lucky to get away with.
  8. Come on Rafi...that pitch almost hit you.
  9. Come on X. I like him in this spot.
  10. Any pitch at Chavis belt line or below is a mistake pitch.
  11. Chavis practicing uppercutting in the on-deck circle.
  12. Sanchez uppercutting like crazy. Bat does not stay in the hitting zone long enough. Bane of many MLB hitters these days.
  13. End of Dustin's ceremony is all I can think.
  14. 2B DJ LeMahieu R CF Aaron Judge R C Gary Sanchez R DH G. Stanton R 1B Luke Voit R SS G. Torres R 3B Gio Urshela R LF M. Andujar R RF C. Frazier R 1B M. Chavis R LF Alex Verdugo L DH J. Martinez R SS X. Bogaerts R 3B R. Devers L RF H. Renfroe R CF E. Hernandez R C C. Vazquez R 2B M. Gonzalez S I no longer have any idea what Cora is thinking at leadoff
  15. Dustin to early induction to Red Sox Hall of Fame....WELL DESERVED IMO
  16. A man after my own heart and with my own preferences, er weaknesses, er preferences.
  17. IMO Rafi takes the best swings of the Sox hitters as an example. They are vicious hard swings but they are level swings and that is what makes him such a dangerous and effective hitter. All of these upper cut HR swings are simply making it easier for pitchers to K hitters. They also make it impossible for. hitters to reach high heat even if its a strike at the letters. Rafi is vulnerable to high heat but he simply swings at too many pitches above the letters. Once he learns the David Ortiz rule of LH hitting, he will likely be even more of a monster than he is today.
  18. Perhaps MLB hitters should stop swinging to hit everything to the moon if they don't want to K so often. It ain't that the pitching is so great. Don't want to K so often? TAKE BETTER SWINGS and BE MORE SELECTIVE! Most especially, take better swings.
  19. The Rays have always been willing to trade off young hitting talent that they were about to have to pay for multiple good very young pitching prospects. Longoria was about the only exception. Franco will be next. The Red Sox for the most part buy developed pitchers. Sometimes having lots of money to spend ain't exactly an advantage. You get used to it and that becomes your MO.
  20. Hey the bullpen represents an Army of arms. They come in waves now. I'm surprised they have not had to lengthen the bench out there. It does represent a problem for the modern manager though. I don't see much difference between rolling bones and what they do now other than trying to get the right L/R matchup for the first batter a reliever. faces. That is first of a minimum of three. Beyond rolling bones.....what....Tarot cards......witches brew.......voodoo priests? I know......a phone call to the computer room. "Come on....give me something.....PLEASE!!!"
  21. Have you ever seen so many pop-ups in one game?
  22. I don't think they are as mentally tough as players from the past. They are certainly in better physical condition than players of the past. Imagine if we had 10 team leagues for a total of 20 teams of players in this physical condition. Imagine the baseball we would be seeing. There were players in tremendous physical condition. But I think they were just that way without all the modern physical training regimens. Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Earnie Banks, Mantle before that stupid sprinkler head took his legs....those guys were phenomenal physical specimens. You could have convinced me they were aliens from outer space. I would have believed it.
  23. Well Gibson and his era of pitchers had the 15" mound through 1968. He would have just been getting warm at 100 pitches.
  24. Oh this is rich. I would like to have seen Cora try to replace Bob Gibson or anybody of that era in this situation. Cora would have gone back to the dugout in a grocery bag full of body parts.
