  1. Barnes is sort of throwing fine for Barnes but a number of these pitches are just getting too much plate.
  2. I am happy to have this lead. But we were musing the night of the Manaea no hitter that Manaea's sequencing would get around the league and we have not come anywhere near where we were before that game since. Still looks like with a few exceptions we still have some adjustments to make.
  3. Boy, I get it guys. Lately we don't have to steel ourselves for the game but for Gomes and other various indignities that NESN might heap upon us in its promos. Its getting rough and lately my hands shake as I flip to NESN for the game.
  4. Yes I am hoping we reverse jinx him!
  5. I don't know why they are not playing Holt tonight. XB went out of his way to keep nunez out of that DP play the other night running the ball himself from deep Short to make the DP himself. Holt should play tonight.
  6. Yea I eventually went looking for the info on the game itself and saw that. Not convinced that the NL circumstance mentioned in the thread is an equivalent though. Their pitchers are batting just about every game they pitch. So they are at least prepared to run the bases. American league pitchers, not so much.Interleague probably helps that a bit.
  7. Right I forgot about that. However if it were me, I would always use an everyday player if I had him available and I would simply work with the guys I had in the lineup to make it happen. I would only use a pitcher to pinch run under extreme duress. The Angels will be in trouble with their pitcher/DH before this season is over if they aren't already. Makes little to no sense. If I had a pitcher with real base running skills that might be a different story.
  8. With the few spots left for bench players on the modern 25 man, moving Swihart would be a favor to us as well as him. With so few bench players available you simply can't have a guy on the bench that you won't use. How do you think we ended up with Wright pinch running? How did that work out for us?
  9. Makes you wonder what they are saying in Tampa where Cash has to somehow pull off the miracle of a bullpen game out of every 5, is managing his tail off to still be something like 9 games behind the Sox and 10 or so behind the Yankees after only 40-50 games, or in Toronto where they have about half of an actual baseball team and Lord what the Oriole's boards must look like.
  10. How did Moreland stay with that with the runner bearing down on him?
  11. Beni's a hitter when he keeps his hands inside and does not let that swing get too big.
  12. Well the Cavs are an abysmal team defensively and I have to believe they are again tonight including King James if the Celts are stomping them again.
  13. Sorry but I will hope to make this a quick question. Is the Cavs defense horrid again tonight?
  14. Beni feel better now. Seems like a reasonable way to keep him off the base paths.
  15. Boy ain't that the truth. On another stupid note: Cano suspended for half the season. Will lose $12m and no post season play should the M's make it to the post season.
  16. I know there are times when it does not look like it, but the Sox are one of the better teams in this league this year. Yea they are likely to struggle with the Yankees. Everybody is going to struggle with the Yankees. But I simply do not see a way to keep the Sox out of 2nd place in this division over 162 games and I don't see a way to keep them out of the post season. Now whether this is enough team to do anything in the post season....just don't know. But the Jays Rays O's simply don't have the means to get past this team into 2nd place in the division unless half the Sox team falls to injury.
  17. Very wise move XB....ran the ball into second from almost LF instead of depending on Nunez to turn two.
  18. Took the words right off my keyboard Dew. Just think about how loooooooooong that half inning might be the way things are going tonight.
  19. You can bench the feeling sorry for himself out of a player though. That was ridiculous. That was a nothing play in CF if he at all had his head in the game. If its me, he is sitting tomorrow. Its Cora's team and he is surely welcome to do as he pleases. But there is no way Beni's head was where it was supposed to be for that play in CF.
  20. You know Beni was standing around out there feeling sorry for himself for the base running play. If they put a camera on him he was probably chewing on his glove at the start of that play in CF.
  21. Thats it. I am done. Sit his dumb ass down to think about what the heck he is doing.
  22. It is time for beni to clutch a base he has made like it was his aging grandma.
  23. For God sake beni where are you going? I am starting to have to agree with some posters that have legitimately suggested that he is just stupid, not inexperienced, not aggressive on the base paths, just plain stupid. Why doesn't he just hit and play in the field and just stop with this insanity on the bases?
