  1. And, in what world do you let go of your starting catcher no matter who he is if you think there is any chance that you are still in it. Vaz is not a great defensive catcher any longer. Oh there is the mighty framing stat which honestly I consider a nice to have, not inscribed on the tablets Moses brought down off the mountain. Vaz could not frame an 8x10 photo successfully at this point. But he has been a major part of your offense when you have had not much offense to write home about and like it or not HE IS YOUR STARTING CATCHER. He has your pitching staff's balls in his hands. But of course the FO nerds appear not to understand that. So Bloom can make whatever additional moves he wants to make at this point. If the Sox had not thrown in the towel on the season they would not have moved Vaz unless they got back a boatload. They certainly did not get a boatload back.
  2. BLOOMS obviously
  3. Nothing is going to change that we needed a 1st baseman for months. We get one multiples of ugly AB's and fielding plays later?????
  4. Meanwhile, Vaz is left hung out to dry last night in Houston. Finds out that he has been traded from the media surrounding him outside the dugout. Vaz looks like he is going to cry right there on the field and a Houston front office guy pulls him out of the press gaggle and down into the Houston clubhouse. Nicely done, Bloom you puke. How is it that Vaz deserved that?
  5. So the Sox just got Hosmer from SD. How much ya' bet that SD started calling around because Hosmer could nix the Soto deal. So they started to call around to teams desperately needing help at FB. Who do you think was at the top of that list? Further I would bet the Padres told Bloom he has to decide right now. We gotta' finish the Soto deal: You get Hosmer We will pay the bulk of his salary for three years but he has an opt out this year Bloom...."You mean I get a FBman for next to nothing for at least the rest of the year and can negotiate with him at least out the year" Whoopie......Bloom makes a move for a 1st basemen months after we needed one falling into one for nothing for the remainder of the year. I would bet going back to SD is one those shitbums we have down in the minor leagues. This is not a MOVE folks. This is falling into a pile of s*** and allowing SD to shower you clean.....TEMPORARILY
  6. What galls you about this team is that the Sox in effect traded their way here. - Mookie, gone for Verdugo who is a JAG and trash - Renfro, gone for JBJ and trash. Renfro is not a god but JBJ is now and never has been more than a late inning replacement. He only made it in the Sox everyday lineup previously because they had enough hitting to carry him....NOT NOW. Plus JBJ is costing them $5M per year more than Renfro cost - Andrew B, also not a god of a player but what did we get for him????? - Cordero, what blind f*** thought Cordero could play.....WHERE???? He does not hit...is the second coming of JBJ and oh....can't field either - why Story and X. It seems to me they have set up moving X. So move him. But of course, they think the fan base won't tolerate moving X and attendance basically sucks The remainder of the team other than Rafi is effectively a bunch of JAG's. Story is a good player. JD is past it. Put Hernandez, Verdugo, Arroyo, Plowecki and whoever the flying f*** else is on this team in the same boat together and you got a bucket of NOTHING. It is probably lucky for us that Rafi is on the IL. Given the way this team moves players the logical move for this Sox FO would be ........move Rafi. And as for the great white hope....Bobby D....forget him. He is the streaky JBJ from the RH side of the plate. Hits horrible mistake pitches really hard but does not get more of them than the average hitter gets. Unless it is an absolutely grooved right to his sweet spot, epic mistake pitch, he ain't hitting it! That said I cannot count the number of guys the Red Sox have moved through their organization over the years that are just like him. Ownership, doesn't matter, GM doesn't matter. Computer system doesn't matter. Red Sox always have a hard on for this sort of player. Oh and is the farm built yet? Does not look like it to me.
  7. Well with plays like that we can be convinced that we don't need you either X.
  8. THAT is an odd situation. The scuttlebutt here is that X has been assured that he is not being traded. Not sure why the Sox did that either if in fact they did. From outward appearances it would appear that X and Rafi are not going to be traded. Rafi is still on the IL anyway. I suspect any other Sox player currently not on the IL should have his bags packed. IMO, the fan base would take anybody else that is currently active being traded other than X and Rafi if he was not on the IL. If I were the Sox I would seriously consider moving Verdugo and anybody else that was part of the Mookie deal. IMO Verdugo will not be more than a JAG and Sox fans are likely never to get over the Mookie deal when they have to stare at Verdugo every day. The rest of what came back for Mookie welcome to exit as well.
  9. Vaz was the likeliest candidate to be gone before the trade deadline. He would give the Sox the best return of the candidates IMO. I was off by 1 prospect and an ice cream cone. I predicted the Sox would get 3 prospects and an ice cream cone for Vaz.
  10. Warned you guys when we got Arroyo that his games played per season made him suspect as to injury.
  11. "Got a catcher here. You can have him for 3 prospects and an ice cream cone." "DONE" "I'll take that deal. The ice cream cone was the clincher. Been hot lately."
  12. Two runs down seems like 28 runs down, not that the Sox would ever let anybody score 28 runs on them in a game.......OH WAIT!
  13. Well the saving grace on the day is that NASCAR is racing on the road coarse at Indianapolis today. I usually don't watch NASCAR much. But whenever they are on a road course its clown cars out there going wildly off course into the catch fences. In fact I might have difficulty switching back and forth. "Is this the Sox or NASCAR on a road course."
  14. After years of enjoying how effortlessly JBJ plays in the OF, now its just another JBJ annoyance because he cannot hit AT ALL and never has.
  15. JBJ's bat did not even get into the same zip code with those pitches. Not even close.
  16. And we will get.........MORE PROSPECTS!
  17. Ah yes...but we have Bobby D. All is saved.
  18. Sigh....yes folks jung has been around all this time. I just realize that I am far too caustic for the game threads when the team is playing like unmitigated s***. So I have not been positing. But I had to come back to post in Splendid's momentous record of the haplessly feeble Sox thread. When you can't win a single series in your division even with most of your team intact, this cave was inevitable. Wait till the trade deadline when the Sox end up losing players to trade and replace them with the dregs they get back. The team will suffer another cave in on top of this one. They are so short handed that whoever they get back will have to play unless they are pure prospects.
  19. Don't know what you guys are seeing but NESN+ just completely s*** the bed...."TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES"
  20. Vaz is good at getting the ball in the air. Should get something out of this.
  21. Both these pitchers are big guys, 6'5" and 6'4". Must look like they re throwing the ball right down your throat.
  22. Hurricanes got the Bruins chasing around in their own end and got the 1s goal of the game as a result. That is the Hurricanes specialty. Get you chasing around in your end and suddenly the puck is in the back of your net.
  23. Seems like Cora is stuck with this bunch for a batting order unless you want to see more of Bobby D-oesn't hit or the rest of the flotsam and jetsam left on the bench. Arroyo bats right so I would not have expected him in the order tonight. Funny how quickly the Sox have found themselves boxed in as far as lineups and batting orders go.
  24. Well clearly the offense is not much to write home about. But does anybody expect the kind of run output and OPS we have seen in recent years across baseball? I don't.
