  1. Corrrectamento....the rule does nothing to actually protect players. The rule just encourage sloppy infielder footwork which actually creates opportunity for injury. Infielders now either putz their way around the bag exhibiting two left feet or fearlessly stand there depending on the rule to protect them, dead meat if the runner simply goes through them. They no longer have any clue how to move around the bag or how to protect themselves.
  2. And the players would still play under the old rules. Do we really think infielders are thrilled with the idea of chasing the baserunners with their noses stuck up the runner's ass holding the tag on him hoping some super slow-mo will show that the baserunner was off the bag for a split nanosecond while the tag was still on. But you tell the infielder he might get an out that way and he is going to play his position that way. Does the fielder actually have a choice? "Ohhhhhhh you didn't hold the tag on for the whole play...what a baaaaaaad boy". ********.
  3. Frankly I don't like any of the GD rule changes other than the DH. They can take the whole rest of it, replay, rules around 2nd base and DP's (the take out slide), rules around Home Plate and throw them into a trash can. That MIGHT be enough to make me happy AGAIN. First thing they can eliminate....REPLAY except for Home Runs and fan interference. The rest of it is TRASH...just plain trash.
  4. NY shows Devers some mercy. Although this probably falls into the category of "when your opponent is chewing off his ankles, don't distract him".
  5. If Devers is involved ...its probably f***ed up
  6. I see the vaunted OB jinx has survived the off season. "Sox have not given up a HR in 5 of the last 7 games." BANG....thanks OB
  7. Might be a good idea to wait about a month if you fancy one of those Betts MVP hats. Might be half price by then.
  8. I don't care how young he is at this point. Devers play in the field is unconscionable....suggests a player that just does not care to improve...never mind if he can actually improve.
  9. What the f*** Alex!
  10. Good to see X again adopt his assassin's persona of 2018 when there are ducks on the pond. Hope that continues.
  11. Come to think of it....I don't want robot umps and you can get rid of replay anytime thanks. I want Managers to be able to argue calls again. I want to see Earl Weaver come out just as the Home Plate ump brooms of the plate only to have Weaver kick a yard of dirt over it only to broom it off and endure Weaver burying it AGAIN! Some of you guys are just too young. Don't know what you are missing.
  12. I am happy when nobody is happy with the umpires. What memories....both benches barkin' at them. Both managers on the top steps. Coaches getting tossed.....perfect!
  13. After an 11 year hiatus from Major Championship victory and a two year hiatus from the game itself Tiger Woods wins the Masters to complete one of the great sports comebacks of all time at 43 years old no less.
  14. We have very few guys with the maturity to carry around all their new hardware. I honestly thought the everyday players would come around sooner than the Starters. It now looks more like nip and tuck.
  15. He is wearing a 2019 Sox uni....So I doubt it.
  16. We suck in the field. Our highlight reel is Vaz throwing the ball. The rest of them suck ass so far.
  17. Nice throw Rafi.
  18. At least Price is throwing everything. Another one of our LH pitchers throwing shaky Changeups though.
  19. Good thing there is a looooooong way to go because this team has a looooooooong way to go.
  20. Why isn't Price pounding these RH hitters inside. If he wants to get Cutter happy he sort of needs to do that.
  21. Don't get Cutter happy just yet David.
  22. 1. Jonathan Villar (S) 2B 2. Joey Rickard ® RF 3. Trey Mancini ® LF 4. Renato Nunez ® DH 5. Hanser Alberto ® 3B 6. Jesus Sucre ® C 7. Chris Davis (L) 1B 8. Richie Martin ® SS 9. Cedric Mullins (S) CF 1. Andrew Benintendi (L) LF 2. Mookie Betts ® CF 3. Steve Pearce ® 1B 4. J.D. Martinez ® RF 5. Xander Bogaerts ® SS 6. Dustin Pedroia ® DH 7. Eduardo Nunez ® 2B 8. Rafael Devers (L) 3B 9. Christian Vazquez ® C Price going today. ERod got talked into the best Start of the season for the Sox. However Price has been the most consistent of the Starters so far. Hasn't been better than mediocre but frankly that is saying something in this bunch. Carrying a sporty 6.00 ERA into this game. Still the best of our bunch.
  23. Ruiz was the LH hitter Rick threw that ugly 0-0 pitch to. He didn't finish the pitch and knew he didn't finish it. Tried to overcompensate and lost command of his secondary pitches completely. That left him throwing a FB, about the only pitch Chris Davis could hit and Davis was back in the pink. Pen finally had a truly suck ass game. But we knew that was coming at some point. Not because they are necessarily bad. Not sure what they are at this point. Just can not put them under so much duress and expect that they wouldn't crumble at some point. The starting pitching is so bad that I am reluctant to mention the other lapses but we are not helping ourselves in the field. Was glad to see Pedey stretch out for that ball to his left. Boy that play brought back memories of just plain ole' Pedey laying out all over the place. I would like to see the Sox more willing to use up mound visits on their starters. I know everybody is trying to save up the mound visits for their pen arms now but this is ridiculous. Give the Starter a chance to gather himself back up. In the space of 6-7 pitches Nat had given up 5 runs and in the blink of an eye Rick had lost command of his secondary pitches. I would rather they spent a mound visit or two on the Starters.
  24. They can bring him up if they want to though it won't do much for the catchers they have for one to go down at this point. What is Leon going to do ...tell the coaches "this guy sucks"? Porcello was at least extending to Home plate through the first inning and that ended in the second with the 0-0 pitch to somebody that he just did not finish. Rick knew he had not finshed that pitch and that was the end of whatever confidence he had. After that, Rick was back to where he was in his other starts...throwing trash secondary pitches out of utter garbage motion, release and follow through. Ultimately didn't have much of a FB either and that was that. Rick is really REALLY struggling out of the stretch for one thing. The real surprise in his case is that in other years he had shown enough grit and mental toughness to work his way out. His confidence in how he is able to throw right now appears to be at an all time low.
  25. Jerry and OB relegated to droning on about drones. Not an encouraging sign.
