  1. Sorry if you are offended by it but the idea that the lineup or I should say the batting order does not matter which has actually been posted at this forum is laughably obtuse.
  2. Thats pretty hysterical. Foul balls and HR's happen to be the only two things I think make sense for replay and they can't even get foul balls right. Beni can use the hit these days. However MOTHER OF GOD, MLB is f***ed in the ass.
  3. I certainly hope so. I doubt it though. Too many true believers that nothing matters but some stat or another.
  4. Well they would have expected a better showing from Tanaka. When he goes south though its early and he NEVER recovers. I have no idea how it is that Paxton could have a good game against the Sox or at least against these Sox. He just does not have the equipment for it. Tailor made to be meat to Red Sox hitting. The Sox hitters can literally spit on any breaking pitch he throws and his FB is just dying to be hit. 98 is meaningless in a bad location.
  5. If a game can demonstrate how overrated velo can be, this is the game.
  6. The only way to throw FB's for strikes to the Red Sox if for them to either tail or rise. Nobody but nobody has a FB with a tail any longer whereas that used to be the norm for FB pitchers. Every one of them had a FB with a tail. Now all you get is a few guys that can throw a riser and thats it. Paxton is throwing these belt high FB's to a very good FB hitting team. This is a very good example of velo being utterly meaningless if you have to throw velo down main st.
  7. Just cannot throw the Sox this many FB's unless you are suicidal.
  8. Cashner has thrown about four horrific mistake pitches so far, I mean real mistakes. Has gotten away with all of them.
  9. So the Yankmees are already starting to catch the 0-0 pitch trying to avoid what Cashner is throwing later in counts.
  10. OK, so Paxton has a decent cutter for an out pitch. But if he has to keep throwing FB's where he is throwing them before he gets to that cutter, he still is not going to get much of that past what might be the best FB hitting team in the AL.
  11. If Cashewnuts can keep those benders working, the Yankmees may never catch up to him. They can see what he is throwing from the dugout and they don't like it! As for Paxton, he might just be doomed. All he really has is FB's to offer and that is ringing the dinner bell for the Sox hitters.
  12. If you have to throw the Red Sox FB's for strikes you would do just as well to stay home.
  13. I know a bunch of people here don't believe batting orders mean anything. But this offense just took off from the day Cora lined up Mookie, Rafi and X, 1,2,3 in the order.
  14. No matter how this comes out, the Yankmees need another starter. We probably need another reliever.
  15. Runs in the bottom of the 1st would be very helpful. Not sure how much Cashewnuts is going to get away with tonight.
  16. Sale is now overthrowing to hit FB velo that he had naturally early in his career, which is why he is throwing so many FB's so far off the plate that hitters don't offer or throws them wild in the strike zone. If he can locate 94-95, I think he will be in better shape than if he throws 97 wildly. I am beginning to think overthrowing the FB is effecting the command of his Slider. Overthrowing is really destructive to a pitcher's entire effort on the mound. He might be "thinking" its OK. Its really not. Sale will be hard to convince that he is struggling with 97 though it is fairly obvious that he is.
  17. Well then maybe his command is not really better when he dials it back. Command is not laying meatballs in the strike zone to get strikes. If you can locate 94, ML hitters are going to have trouble with that. If you lay 97 right down main st at the belt line or just below it, 97 in that location is not going to get past ML hitters and neither is 94. The best the pitcher gets is what Sale got the other night v the bottom half of the Rays order dealing 97 in that location....lots of balls fouled off. If the hitters are above average ML hitters, those foul balls turn into bombs over the fence.
  18. When you struggle to go 5 innings with some barely crawling to 6, there is hardly anything that I would call "hallowed ground" for pitchers any longer. We have been watching the game come apart at the seems laughing the whole way as if there was something to laugh about.
  19. Traditionally no matter what you put around the deal, you have to give a pitcher with real potential to get a pitcher that is in effect a known quantity now. Where is that coming from for a Syndergaard? We sent pitchers Kopech and Diaz to Chicago to get Sale.
  20. Its obvious what he did. He virtually did the only thing he could do. Is that good for more than a night...just don't know. Is Rick ready to truly commit to being a junker? Just don't know. He is headed there anyway. Maybe sooner is better than later.
  21. That was a really gutsy effort. But I just don't know what he is going to do without a FB. That thing has been headed downhill for over a year now and appears to have hit rock bottom.
  22. A lone exception that proves the rule and nobody is going to get Verlander out of Houston. If we need a pitcher I prefer he come from the NL where there are more pitchers that challenge as a matter of course. There are a couple of very young AL pitchers that challenge. But they are breaking down about as soon as they get here. What a surprise!
  23. Yup...IMO, Morton and anybody like him is the future of MLB pitching if anybody running this circus act has a brain in his silly little head. Gonna' take a lotta' changes to get there though.
  24. NOPE....West is still around. he is so out of it now that he is regularly getting in the way of the fielders when he is umping a base. Its actually pretty hysterical to watch if not for the fact that MLB wants us to take this nonsense seriously.
  25. Oh Angel deserves this guy Rayburn on his crew. They will likely fall in love and elope. That would be a fun one for Torre to explain.
