  1. Yup got out of that jam. Oakland has had chances tonight. But that’s about it.
  2. Ya it seems to me, The Athletics have the recipe for a poor franchise to succeed in the MLB regular season but their playoff season is an entirely different story against the very good teams and top pitchers. Hopefully Oakland can give their fans something to cheer about tonight, other than just making it to the playoffs.
  3. Agreed with this. Tough to game plan for an entire bullpen. Oakland hasn't exactly been the most successful team come playoff time so hopefully it works out for them. Could you imagine if the Sox used only their bullpen for an entire game. My god...... It would be a nightmare.
  4. Porcello is the biggest question mark to me right now. Even with Sale's velocity down I still trust Sale can get a lot of strikeouts and keep the game in reach through 5 or 6 innings. Porcello you just never know what to expect from him. The damage he causes is always early on in games and then he settles down. The trouble is, come playoff time if Porcello gives up a couple runs early they might yank him after just a couple innings or 3 innings. Porcello started the year red hot and looked like his 2016 self but recently his ERA has gone way down and he gives up way too many early dingers which could hurt us come playoff time.
  5. Can't say I actually agree. Because the Sox and Yankees are so good it's a rare thing to see them miss playoffs. So many people said how strange it was to not see the Yankees in the playoffs 2 years ago. You could bet if the Sox fail to make playoffs next year it would be talked about. It's not a huge accomplishment after winning 3 World Series in the last 14 years but it's still damn impressive considering how hard it is to make playoffs and even one step further win the division.
  6. Because a lot of us were around to see the World Series 14 years ago and 11 years ago. I would have been 17 and 20 at the time. It's still relatively relevant. Going back to the 90's where the Yankees won 3 World Series is a distant memory to a lot of people. I barely remember anything of the 90's when it comes to baseball.
  7. This. Which is a big reason why we haven't made it out of the first round two years in a row. None of our pitchers could make it out of 4 innings last year. Porcello might have but I can't remember. You need a Lester type outing from last night plus the bats to come alive in order to get these wins come playoffs. For us even more crucial that our starters can go 6 innings or more as our bullpen is a struggle.
  8. Colorado won. Congrats to them.
  9. Agreed with this. As much as I want to make the World Series. If we lose to the Yankees it just means we have to make changes. I would love nothing more than to destroy the Yankees in the playoffs. (And watch Price throw a gem against them as well)
  10. My bad didn’t see you said two innings.
  11. Although I agree he has been good. He hasn’t had much playing time this year. Might be a lot to ask of him come playoff time against a team like the Yanks.
  12. Agreed Kimmi. Scares me a bit in Yankee stadium. But I think price knows he can do it. He pitched very well his second last start against the Yankees. I also think having a good outing in the playoffs last year will settle his nerves a bit.
  13. Simply put for me it’s Price. Yes he has had his struggles come playoff time but he was lights out last year when he was called up to pitch and I honestly expect no different from him this year. Since coming back from his Carpel Tunnel he has been lights out with the exception of a couple bad games. Sale is a huge question mark as people are worried about his velocity. Until that I would have said Sale. But I’ll stick with Price.
  14. I’ve never minded the Braves. Nice to see them have a good year after sucking the last few years. That entire conference is a strange one. No cut clear team to go to the World Series. Anyone can take it. I still think the Dodgers win it and go back to the World Series but I hope the Braves can.
  15. It's unfortunate but they will need to. There isn't one pitcher in the bullpen that I trust other than Kimbrel. Hoping Sale, Price and Porcello can give us 6 strong innings or more.
  16. This. Three years in a row losing in the first round especially after the season we have had is something that I couldn’t take. World Series would be fantastic but I just hope they can make it to the Conf finals and make it a hell of a series. If we do make it to the World Series there isn’t a team that scares me. I don’t think we would have much trouble against Atlanta, La, Colorado or Milwaukee. Cubs might be a challenge but that’s about it.
  17. If he gives us 5 or 6 scoreless innings come playoffs I’ll take it.
  18. Porcello the Yankee killer.
  19. Let’s go out on a win!
  20. Absolute brutal calls. Two strikes that should have been balls but regardless. f***
  21. Agreed. Him with most of our bullpen.
  22. I just don’t want them to limp into the playoffs losing 5 of their last 6 against the Yankees. The games might not matter on paper. But it’s a huge confidence killer to lose two straight series to a team we may have to play next week in the playoffs.
  23. Great. Another f***ing loss to this team.
  24. Eovaldi looking sharp today.
