Holy s***, you're obviously new around here and I have no clue who you are...... But the hate you have for Porcello is utterly ridiculous......
First of all: The CY Young season has been discussed many times on this board, you aren't hurting anyone's feelings by saying "Another pitcher deserved it" That is totally fair, and to be perfectly honest..... I was actually pretty stunned when Porcello won the award. I definitely thought guys like Verlander & Kluber had just as much of a shot if not more to win it as they were fantastic.... HOWEVER what the hell does that have to do with anything? Porcello was absolutely outstanding that season and was no doubt in the question for the award. You are basically saying "Porcello was very good that year, but he got an award he shouldn't have which by the way was in no way his fault, there for I HATE him) I don't understand that what so ever.... Regardless moving on
Second: Who really would take Porcello's place? 4 years ago Porcello was the CY Young award winner, and last season he was very good. He struggled down the stretch but he started the season red hot. I think his first 8 out of 9 starts he gave up 3 runs or less. He went 33 starts last season and finished with an ERA of 4.28 which seemed a lot worse than it was because he had 3 very bad games last season 2 of which were against the Jays where he was absolutely crushed inside of just a couple innings and I think another was against the Guardians where he gave up another 5 runs. Outside of 3 or 4 bad games he was rock solid all season and very consistent. That is not an easy find in a pitcher especially if Porcello is willing to take a discount. This season Porcello started slow but the entire rotation did so I'm not going to touch on that too much as he was very solid his last start.
Im not saying we are stupid if Porcello walks, but I think at the right price he is consistent enough to keep and as many have said on here you can usually count on Porcello to give you 6 plus innings every time he is out. Or.... you let him walk and possibly sign another pitcher at a decent chunk of money and risk him being exactly like Porcello or sucking even more... Keep in mind it seems to be a curse over the last decade (NFL, NHL, MLB, NBA) with these massive contract signings turning out to be utter garbage. I think Chris Sale is the exception...... however he isn't exactly proving me wrong this season either.
