  1. Not with the amount of money we are paying him...... However.... Sale is pretty damn good for at least a couple innings so I am sure he would be good in that role, but just no. He is too good to have him anywhere other than the starting rotation. He will get his s*** together.
  2. win....go sox..... Wish I had more excitement....... lol
  3. The past for me is definitely fond memories of the Sox. I am 31 and started cheering for them at the age of 14..... Would have been 2002.... Wasn't long after I got to witness them win a World Series and then many more to come This season sure as hell hasn't given me much to cheer about.... A nice sweep over the division leaders but that seems a distant memory now with losing back to back to Detroit.
  4. Depends on what team you are looking at. The top ten teams in pitching from Tampa to Houston have had some very good innings from their rotation..... Now if you look at teams like Boston, Baltimore, Kansas City etc.... Then yes I suppose you are right.... They don't go deep. But the hope is your start will give you 6 innings if not 7 with the bullpen having to go 2 innings or possibly 3. Our bullpen has had much more work than that. Granted with saying that the rotation as of late has looked pretty solid. I am more talking about the first 3 series of the season.
  5. Chances of Ortiz coming back good?
  6. Would also help if the rotation could give us more than 4 or 5 innings. Yet again Sale didn't go past 5 yesterday, the bullpen is just flat out tired right now. It remains to be seen if it will haunt us or not by not replacing Kimbrel...... That honestly is the least of my worries right now. The offense is a shadow of what they were last year and simply not producing. The rotation got off to an incredibly slow start (Price was the only respectable pitcher in there) but now with the rotation seemingly turning things around it remains to be seen how bad the bullpen ends up costing us some games. However with basically the same offense from last year it's astonishing how low we have sunk....... To go from 1st in the entire league to 22nd..... Something is not right and they absolutely showed no signs of turning that around yesterday. We need to have a lead in the 9th inning first of all, before we worry about replacing our closer.
  7. It's tough to find a mid rotation guy that is consistent I find. Porcello started the year slow but he usually turns in 6 plus decent innings and keeps us in the game. As you said, Porcello getting older decreases the chance of him getting a long term deal however 30 in baseball terms is still young. I'm not sure who we go after if Porcello leaves..... Maybe Wright will come back?
  8. Kelly was definitely a disappointment down the stretch. The bullpen wasn’t needed much as our rotation was so strong and Kimbrel usually got the 9th inning if need be. Wasn’t much pressure on them either which is a huge factor. We generally had a 3 or 4 run lead. Things are much different when the game is close. This year the offense isn’t producing and the starting rotation is going 5 or 6 innings. More pressure on the bullpen and unfortunately they haven’t been playing good outside of Barnes and Braiser.
  9. Ya..... not looking good
  10. Fair enough. Never looked at the break down. I know Kimbrel was awesome and they were awesome in the postseason. But couldn’t remember the stats in regular season. Seems hard to believe.
  11. It’s going to be a brutal tough division this year. And agreed. They have good safeties but I hope they go after Thornhill in the draft. I trust Frank Reich. He won me over last year.
  12. Well at least they’re entertaining us. Bad entertainment. But entertainment none the less.
  13. I am a Colts fan!! I’m excited for the season! Colts have a nasty schedule this year. Play in New Orleans and Kansas City and Pittsburgh.
  14. It’s getting tough. The series against Tampa seems so long ago already lol. Ottawa Senators didn’t make playoffs so I’m cheering for Colorado as an underdog. And NBA I’m cool with Celtics making a deep run!
  15. Bruins Leafs game is intense. Gonna watch it. Leafs have one goal...... more than Sox have runs. Lol
  16. Pray that our f***ing starters can last more than 5 innings. One thing I will say is the rotation seemed pretty solid this time around. Maybe Price, E Rod and Porcello can go 7 each next time up. I would factor In Sale but he still seemed pretty shaky today even though he had 10 strikeouts.
  17. Agreed a shadow of what we were last season. I thought the sweep over Tampa was a sign of good things to come. But this series proves otherwise.
  18. Not even sure I can be mad at the bullpen. It’s insane how much work they’re getting this season already.
  19. Offense is off to another good start I see.
  20. Cora was brilliant with using the bullpen and we also had starters in there as well in the postseason. Kimbrel also took a lot of the pressure off (through regular season anyway) he was s*** for the most part in the playoffs. Not sure what you mean by I said our starters didn’t go deep..... our starting rotation was fantastic in the regular season. Playoffs the bullpen came up big. I’ve never denied that. Regular season. Individual bullpen was not good. Simple as that. Kimbrel as a closer was good however.
  21. They were solid in the postseason, but yes the bullpen over all is not good..... At all.... It was covered up by a very strong starting rotation and offense.
  22. Neither one of us missed much. Sad..... even with this lineup I was expecting a hell of a good performance at home after coming off a sweep over Tampa..... Silly me.
  23. Agreed with this completely. As I said earlier in the game day thread it's unfortunate because the offense is off to a very slow start as well. The season is still young, but as you said.... We lost a couple more series back to back we will need a HUGE winning streak to get back in it and hopes of other teams losing in the process.
  24. Though I agree our offense was good enough to win today and should have..... Sale is still a part of the problem. He was far from bad, but our Ace has had 1 game this season where he has made it further than 5 innings. It is very concerning. The bullpen has had A LOT of work lately with the rotation sucking, however the rotation looks to have found their stride and hopefully this average game from Sale is a sign of good things to come. But this still isn't Chris Sale, and he will be the first to tell you that. With that said..... he still gave us a chance to win and the bullpen was a massive failure. This offense is no where near what they were last year, we aren't going to put up 8 runs or more a game so it doesn't matter how bad the pitching is. Maybe down the line we will, but right now the pitching needs to be near flawless for us to have a chance. I don't think we have put up 8 runs once this season actually. In our last 6 games we have put up 19 runs. Hell we put that up in one game last year against Baltimore lol!!
