Agreed! In my opinion this series against Texas is HUGE. We haven't played many average teams yet. Very good teams and very bad teams. I suppose Oakland and even the White Sox (somehow they are playing well) This Texas team should be a very interesting series.

I remember we didn't have a great record against the winning teams..... So that is why I don't want to go too overboard with changes right now. Making the playoffs is our goal right now. Then focus on winning the Wild Card game and we go from there.

That's kind of where I am at. See where we stand at the All Star break. If we are in a Wild Card spot or just a game out I don't think we have to make many moves. I truly believe in a one game Wild Card whether it be in Boston or elsewhere we can win it especially if Sale starts. Then..... anything can happen in round 1. At this point all that matters is making the playoffs. And this series against Texas is going to be a good sign of who we are. We have sucked against the top teams like Tampa, New York and Houston and then dominate the crap teams. Well Texas is playing very good baseball right now. They aren't a top team but they are competing for a playoff spot right now. How we fair against them will tell us more about this team.

Stroman as a starter and Eovaldi as our closer would be friggin awesome! It won't ever happen, just saying.....

I still think that is a mistake big time. We have seen our pitching struggles with Eovaldi not in the lineup. Take out Porcello and it will be the same thing.

Not even close to comparable. If I wasn't work or had a newborn I would take the time to go back and find some of his..... He doesn't yell and go nuts but he shows signs that he is legit pissed and will say things like "we sucked, we played horrible etc..." You can tell he is genuinely pissed and going to fire the team out for the next game. I haven't seen every single Cora press game but the ones I do see after a loss it's the same generic crap of "we played hard, we will get better"

Maybe we rebuild coaching wise then. I mentioned in another thread I would like to see Cora fire up the team a bit more.... rather than his usual "we fought hard but we lost against a good team bla bla bla"" Is Cora even capable of getting angry? Honestly..... I don't know who we can trade for because on paper we have a ridiculous amount of talent so I'm not sure trading for anyone will solve our problems. If we can't win with this team right now I'm not sure getting guys like Anthony Rendon, Clint Frazier, Mike Moustaakas, Justin Smoak etc.... would do anything for our team. Series against the Astros we put up 3, 3, 4. Not horrible especially game 3 but 3 runs in games 1 and 2 usually won't get it done against the top teams. Series against Yankees we put up 1, 3, 8. Again game 3 was very good but 4 runs in games 1 and 2 combine is dog s*** Series against Tampa 1, 2, 5, 1 Yes we have injuries no doubt about that but as mentioned before.... Last year's Red Sox was one of the best teams in MLB history. I refuse to believe because we have 3 injuries we are this bad. The players arent playing well no doubt about that but Cora's boring half ass personality after each loss doesn't help either.

Well said. Though I agree with you I still think a lot of this falls on the manager. Have you seen Coras boring ass press conference after each loss? “Tough loss against a tough team, thought we fought hard but came up short” light a fire man!!!!! I’m so sick of his calm cool self. It worked last year when we were winning but now it’s time to light a fire under this team and I don’t think he is capable of it. Reminds me of Tony Dungy with the Colts. Brilliant coach and very nice but I don’t think I ever once saw him spark a match under the team. (Granted he didn’t have to as Colts always had a winning record) but Cora needs to adjust and do something but he just doesn’t seem capable of it.

ASAP. On paper there is absolutely NO WAY we should be playing like this just because we have a couple injuries. That is utter ******** and a pathetic excuse to use. This team last year was one of (if not) the best team we have had in Sox history and we destroyed teams especially in the playoffs. So now because we are missing Martinez, Moreland, Eovaldi we should not even be in a playoff spot lmao??? In 3 of the 4 games we had against Tampa we put up 4 stinkin runs!!! That's beyond pathetic. Guys like Mookie need to step it up and fast otherwise we won't even be in the playoff race after the All Star Break. DD and Cora need to talk and light a fire under this team. If missing a couple players on offense is "the reason" why our offense sucks ass so bad then just blow this team up and start from scratch. Also don't be fooled by the stats. I think the Sox are in the top 5 batting wise but we score our runs in chunks.... Like against teams such as the White Sox or Royals. We totally s*** ourselves against the top teams like Tampa, Houston and the Yankees.

Well lets hope we can take this series against Texas. They are much (MUCH) better than I expected them to be this season and are currently fighting for a wildcard spot. This is an important series to win especially at home.

Agreed and at first I thought maybe he was hiding an injury.... But now I think he is just in a slump and it's getting into his head big time. Missing JD and Moreland sucks but on paper we should have enough talent that we shouldn't be losing series the way we are. In 3 of the 4 games against Tampa we put up 4 god damn runs.... You're telling me because we are missing a couple of guys that makes it ok for us to have 4 runs...... Cora needs to do something and do something fast. If missing 2 guys means we can't score runs then we might as well blow this team up and rebuild.

At this point I am waiting to see what they do against Texas. If we somehow manage to lose with Sale tonight I am past disgusted with this team. We seem to s*** ourselves against the top teams and right now Texas is playing very very well. I think they will cool off, but I still don't think this is an automatic for the Sox. Our offense has been less than pathetic so Sale once again will have to bring it.
