  1. Joel Pineiro was also a pretty big bust. Anyone else remember when he was supposed to be our closer?
  2. It will be hilarious!
  3. When I get home, perhaps I'll look at all the FA signings since January 2003 and say whether they were paid more or less than their WAR value.
  4. Do you realize that you just said that to the only person on this site with over 25,000 posts?
  5. Me either. He's been one of the best RF in baseball the last four years.
  6. Hey look, an injury thread! Perhaps here would be a good place to discuss the backs of Youk and Buchholz, the heal of Ortiz, the shoulder of Drew and the rehab assignments of Kalish, Doubront and Tazawa.
  7. I'm surprised it took this long for someone else to mention that. Also surprised no one else has mentioned Bill Mueller.
  8. Mark Bellhorn worked out pretty well.
  9. Grumpy old man says what?
  10. 4 years before Epstein.
  11. I don't think Epstein could have anticipated his injury. He was a highly productive player year in and year out before he got hurt.
  12. Good one, I was just going to mention him. Didn't he also sign Arroyo for the league minimum prior to 2003?
  13. If you look at his track record, he's one of the best in baseball at singing low risk, high reward players and finding bargains but when it comes signing big name free agents he's done a terrible job. That's what makes me laugh when people say Epstein wouldn't be a good GM if he was working for a small market team.
  14. We should just start a DL thread. On the bright side, we have a humongous lead on the Wild Card and this will give us time to get everyone healthy and rested for October.
  15. Good David Ortiz Bill Mueller JD Drew Adrian Beltre Mike Timlin Gabe Kapler Kevin Millar (does that count as a free agent or is that considered a trade for cash considerations?) Bad Julio Lugo Matt Clement Daisuke Matsuzaka Brad Penny Ramiro Mendoza Rudy Seanez
  16. Kukuk is probably the most talent player we got after the 4th round (assuming you meant 4th round and not 4th pick). He's an 18 year old lefty whose fastball hits 95 a a plus slider and a changeup that needs some more work. He's still pretty raw but that's to be expected of an 18 year old.
  17. Here's a bold prediction - we're going to get more than 3 hits a game against the Royals pitching.
  18. Glad I wasn't home to watch that garbage. Lets argue about Crawford some more, that will make everyone feel better!
  19. There's our 3 hits for the day.
