The main cause of his record is the little run support Bellhorn mentioned. He's looked sharp when he gets it though.

Clay needs to have a big night. I'm excited to see his next start in person next Saturday vs the Angels for the second time this year. First game I saw was his almost no-no.
He's had some pretty good outings recently. Chicago and Cleveland come to mind. He's also has some bad outings. Tonight's the pitching matchup that I think we all want to see however.
