  1. We should start on time, but it looks like pretty bad storms will move in at like 8 to 8:30
  2. Well, I've repeatedly stated that I don't remember the 2004 title run. I turned 6 during that postseason. All I remember is talking to my kindergarten teacher after each win in the ALCS, as we kept creeping closer and closer to making history. I remember nothing from the World Series, and not much after that until the 2007 playoffs. It's not really until 2008, however, that I can put together a full season of memories.
  3. If the current radar stays exactly how it is, which is very unlikely, I see this one starting at about 8:30. Win. Dance. Repeat. x3
  4. Apples and oranges. mvp hit it on the head with the whole time constraints thing.
  5. Well to be fair, I had just turned 15 during the 2013 World Series. I was only that 12 year old for a brief 4 month period when I first joined
  6. It's really sad that the only real NL Playoff race is the NL Central. Unless the Cubs blow it, the playoff teams are set before we even reach September. On the bright side, at least AJ Pollock will be getting his first taste of October baseball. Can't wait to watch him (and the Sox, hopefully)
  7. Holy cow, I forgot Tim McCarver even used to be a thing. Man does time fly.
  8. Just think how special it would have been to have been alive and consciously remembering the 2004 season. Oh, how great that must have felt.
  9. Agree. I say we just move this thread to the archives and call it a night. I've said more in 10 minutes than I should ever have.
  10. Let me tell you this: In Germany, it is a requirement for all students to visit at least one of the concentration camps before the completion of high school. Now I'm not saying a Hitler statue would be a good idea, but the only way to fix the world is to speak openly about the past.
  11. I could honestly go either way here, assuming this is a response to Charlottesville. I'm a believer in keeping in touch with all history, good or bad, as a way to remember and learn from past mistakes. That side of me says keep the name. But then I feel like it should have been renamed a long time ago anyway. There's nothing at all at or near Fenway to honor Ted Williams or Yaz. Pick one of them and celebrate their careers.
  12. That was definitely the right move to make, especially considering our record in extra innings, and the fact that the Cardinals used three pitchers in the 9th. I like our bullpen against theirs if the game were to continue.
  13. I think I'm about as fascinated as you. Listening on the radio as it happened, it seemed like a blur to me. Watching it on my MLB app, Twitter, etc., it seems like Mookie's ball was going to hit higher up on the wall then it did, but then it was played so well, especially for somebody that doesn't get a whole lot of experience with the wall. The relay was perfect, exactly what you want to see. As an outfielder myself, I was always taught that if you're throwing home, it's better to one hop it than air mail it, and it was a perfect one hopper to Yadi, who had the plate covered in the perfect manner. How that ball got away from him is beyond me. Was it the classic human tendency to turn for the tag before you've secured the ball, or did he just have trouble with the hop for one of the rare instances in his fantastic career. And the slide by Jackie was as good as it could have been without steamrolling Molina. All around a very interesting play. A couple years ago, Yadi would've been blocking the plate, and JBJ would've just run into him, potentially landing both on the DL for an extended time.
  14. I've been ignoring these insults all night, but now I have one question: What did I ever do to you?
  15. No. That's a risk you take. If he's out, it's tied. No big deal. Can't assume he would've scored on the next AB
  16. Listening to Joe Castiglione go ballistic never gets old. However, listening to Joe Castiglione keep mixing up Matheny and Molina gets very old very quickly.
  17. Worth it. My roommate lives about an hour north of NYC, so he'll love my dancing outfielders poster
  18. I didn't SEE the game last night.
  19. I feel like I haven't seen Bogey get a hit in two months
  20. It's definitely harder than you think. I'm no pro umpire, and while I certainly try to have the same exact zone all game, it's pretty hard to do. These guys are professionals, though, and while you should have higher expectations of them, they are still human
  21. Had to settle on the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. I was truly taken aback by my entire European trip earlier this summer. Such a beautiful part of the world with so much history. Now for my dorm, I have the Red Sox OF and the Brandenburg Gate, with at least one more still to come...
  22. Nah. Eck was slobbering over how rare that is, and how bad Carpenter has to be to get tagged out
  23. That was unnecessary
  24. Struggling to find one I like that is in my price range. Starting to look for Berlin, Munich, and Salzburg as well
  25. How hard is it to find a reasonably priced poster of the Vienna skyline??? Damn
