If you're an educated, baseball crazed fan like all of us are, it shouldn't matter, like you say Max. And if you're a casual fan, just tuning in to kill time, you might think baseball is boring, which is why ESPN has this system in place. They want to keep viewers reeled in. Baseball is a very boring game. As an outfielder, I know that very well. I can't tell you how many times I was bored out of my mind sitting out there. People that aren't into baseball that are just flipping through the channels aren't going to stay on the game very long if it's not entertaining. The broadcasters have a very important job.
I'm not really into hockey, but any game that Doc Emrick broadcasts, I tend to tune in for longer than I would have otherwise, because he makes the game entertaining
