I wonder, how many pitches , starts and what velocity used to throw a pitcher in the 60's, 70's or earlier decades? I'm not sure that those teams had a 7th, 8th, 9th Inning-Pitcher; the starters usually had to go all the way, right? and how many of those who used to throw 8th or 9th innings had healthy problems? and how long their careers last? These days, the teams protect a lot the start pitchers.
