  1. I don't understand the negativity for JF. If the Tribe hadn't hired TF, I would have been thrilled to bring JF back home to Cleveland.
  2. Guardians. Tito will work them into contention with his fine baseball mind. Red Sox traded too much talent to get rid of some bad eggs.
  3. I had the pleasure of seeing Johnny Pesky play many times. It was a better, more innocent time back when Johnny played. He really loved the Red Sox. They don't make 'em like that very often anymore.
  4. Keep Shop. How about Bobby V? Does that count?!?!
  5. Had some talent. Too bad.
  6. After today I will say not very good!
  7. Guardians 3 1/2 in front of the Tigs.
  8. Back to subject. Tribe is now 14-10 and getting great pitching and finally some timely hitting. Could be interesting.
  9. ...And, isn't that his right?
  10. You won't see begging in MLB. However he was well-liked and was easy to play for which probably led to his downfall.
  11. BV looks totally stressed. I wouldn't be surprised to see him resign at ANY time. Who needs all this crap at his age? Not sticking up for him; just stating my observations.
  12. Are some of you V-haters feeling that way because of his deep connection to New York?
  13. I'm saying that managers are basically inconsequential in winning or losing at the MLB level. Sure, owners fire managers all the time because it is EASIER than firing 25 players!! Has nothing to do with their salaries or, at best, very little.
  14. Wasn't there, of course but I'm quite sure he was handling both fine. Do you really think managing MLB makes a whole lot of difference today in how a club does?
  15. Working on charitable activities after 9/11 seems far more important to me than managing a baseball team! No?
  16. Nailed it!!
  17. Sign of the times - player tell manager how things are done. Sad. I really like Pedroia but he is NOT management.
  18. deabeachfred - One could say the same about Boudreau starting a lefty Bearden in the Fens. It was simply the Guardians' year! Btw, when did you become a Red Sox fan?
  19. ...and another!! I saw Mel Parnell pitch in Cleveland many times and was considered throughout baseball as one fine pitcher and a class act. In fact, I'm looking at his autographed picture right now along with Teddy, Yaz, Jackie Jensen and the Hawk. I knew he must be old but not that old. Time is fleeting. Probably most on this board don't know much about him but I am saddened by his passing. May God bless you, Mel Parnell.
  20. Jim Piersall. Fine ballplayer, too.
  21. Last year they started off 30-15 I believe. I think they have too many question marks. Your thoughts?
  22. Trammel should also be in, imo.
  23. Ask Guardians' fans.
