  1. We're not just gonna eat that much money man. It's around 30 mil if I remember correctly.
  2. We're stuck with him man and we might as well hope he turns it around which he showed signs of this year. He's never gonna put up the pretty numbers he did in Anaheim but I think we'll see a much better John Lackey in 2012, and a much better Red Sox team for that matter.
  3. Dude, the offseason hasn't even started yet.
  4. Where else will he pitch?
  5. Bell's staying in SD. He loves it there and wants to close. I don't think he'll bolt here to play second fiddle to Papelbon.
  6. I think Theo gets a little too much of a bad rap on free agents. Some guys I don't think you can blame him too much for. Renteria came in as a solid SS who could play defense. Who would've guessed he was gonna suck that hard? Lugo and Dice-K, I'll give you. Drew might be overpaid but we got a lot of good out of him. He stepped up in the 07 playoffs and carried the team for the whole month of June is 2008 when Papi was sucking it and sucking it hard. He also played very solid defense and put up a high OBP with some pop. The juries are still out on CC and Lackey. Lackey got paid to be a number 3 and he was exactly that in 2010, his numbers weren't as pretty as they were in Anaheim but that was to be expected. You can't anticipate how bad he was for the majority of this season and he still has 3 years left to right the ship. Crawford is an amazing talent and I don't think one bad season is enough to say that the whole career of .300 hitting is going to end. He had a rough first season in Boston, there's 6 more left.
  7. It's rough. People are going nuts and they have reason to but some of the stuff I'm reading is out there even for my tastes. We'll all get over it and start to look at things a bit more rationally but for now, everyone is just f***ing pissed.
  8. Can I just say that who really cares if a player is a prick? I don't care how big of an ******* a player might be as long as he gets it done. So what if Beckett is a jerk and Youk too? They're great players. This September was one clusterf*** of injuries, bad luck, and a few people not stepping up when they had to. This was just everything that could go wrong going wrong. No one would be complaining about Beckett or Youk or anybody else being an ******* if we hadn't fallen apart, it's all kneejerk reaction. Should we be pissed at what happened? f*** yeah we should but let's not get on guys who've been the cogs on this team for years and had it not been for them, we'd have been down and out long before number 162. Youk tried to suck it up and play hurt when this team needed him and although he fell apart down the stretch, do you have any idea how much worse we would be if Beckett didn't step up and anchor the rotation like he did this year? He was a godsend.
  9. I think it might be a good idea to have a thread where we can all just sound off on how pissed we are at what's happened over the past month. Just a general "f*** this s***" thread. I was pretty bummed out and disappointed when we missed the playoffs but I didn't really get angry until the divisional series started. That's when I realized we aren't a part of it and it just pisses me off. When Longoria hit a homer to pull within 1 of Texas I just looked at my dad who I was watching with and said, "That should be us. That should be f***ing us." This team had it in them to go all the way, the talent was there and we were in position to do it. But now I have to hear about the collapse and how great of a story the f***ing Cinderella Rays are and all that s***. Hell, the Yankees weren't supposed to be that good this year, they were desperate and dumpster diving for trash like Garcia and Colon. Fast Forward: Buch's hurt, Lackey's melted down, Dice-K's done both and those f***ing has-beens have suddenly turned into mid 3 ERA pitchers out of nowhere. It's infuriating to watch those pricks in New York root on that team full of douches as they get to play for a title and we're sitting here drowning our sorrows and talking about the loss of our manager who's the greatest in team history. What the f*** happened? The rest of the MLB can kiss my ass, 2012 is our year. This s*** isn't happening again. I'm not gonna have to swallow my pride and take s*** from other fans after we fall apart, not again.
  10. I just got done watching some of the conference. It feels very weird, I was ready for the possibility but seeing it actually happen is just strange. I never thought this day would come. I hope he finds success elsewhere and never has to pay for a drink or meal in the city of Boston again. Thanks for everything Tito, you'll always be the best manager the Red Sox have ever had.
  11. Well, if he does go, thanks for the 2 World Series wins and the 5 postseason appearences. Greatest manager in Sox history and this definately isn't going to be what we remember him by. That said, I hope he stays, Theo too.
  12. That's gonna be nice. You gotta feel for the guy though. I know he's probably gonna have to bite the bullet for this one but it wasn't all his fault. What we just witnessed was everything that could've possibly gone wrong going wrong. We just couldn't catch a break and I can't place all the blame on Tito for that. If he gets fired, I hope he knows that he's still the best manager the Red Sox have ever had and one of the most significant figures in the history of this franchise.
  13. Papi and Paps will be back, I think. Scutaro's coming back. I think we need to look for some kind of innings eater for the back end of the rotation. I don't completely blame Theo for the lack of starting pitching depth, no one could've guessed how devastated our rotation would be by injury this season but a couple extra guys to back up the injuries would've been huge.
  14. I wish I were old enough to legally drown my sorrows in alcohol.
  15. Well you f***ers better win the next two.
  16. It's on the offense now, can't lose this game.
  17. Your opinion means as much to me as the lives of those in the towers ment to the terrorists on 9/11.
  18. Instead of insane did you ever think I might just be making an attempt at being funny? Did that ever cross your mind? A huge chunk of comedy is saying s*** that makes you go
  19. Way to step up Josh!
  20. That's not the point at all.
  21. Yes, actually, I do. It's the whole point. It's all on the same level because people might flip out at a 9/11 joke, but people might find it just as awful to make fun of something that you would never think to be offensive.
  22. Thank you for the help Emmz and La Munson.
