  1. Fair enough. I wasn't sure I just found it interesting. The fact that he's improving is good enough. He can throw out runners well enough, he can block the ball okay from what the eye test tells me, and he absolutely crushes the ball when he hits it. He may age faster but 27 still isn't ancient. Given more time to improve, who knows? You said yourself that his defensive skills are coming along. If he can stick at catcher. It allows us to use lavs as a DH or shop him for a starting pitcher.
  2. The fact of the matter is that he isn't the first superstar to have a power outage. He's been less than A-god so far but he's a yearly MVP guy and he's just flat out too good not to figure himself out and seeing as he's showing signs of doing that, I think we are in a position for gonzo to really come on in the second half. HR do come in bunches.
  3. Eh. The 5 hole is an RBI spot, traditionally. He' tearing it up there recently. Keep him there until the power comes back and then bump him up to cleanup or the 3 hole. He's swinging the bat very well over the last few series, only a matter of time before the power comes. We still have half the season left.
  4. Found it. http://sonsofsamhorn.net/topic/72935-should-the-sox-trade-saltalamacchia/page__pid__4205562#entry4205562 Post is by username: Williams_482. Not sure how accurate what he's saying is but I found it intriguing.
  5. 7 K's through 4 for Jon.
  6. I'll try to dig up that guys post some time. Admittedly I'm too lazy to find it now but it was very interesting. The kid is already improving though and he is 27, I see nowhere to go but up.
  7. He's so awesome he forces fielding errors. If I could choose between a threesome with Heidi Watney and Jenny dell or a long walk on a moonlit beach with salty, I'd take the beach walk.
  8. He could play for the Yankees and room with nick swisher.
  9. Apparently he ranks near the top of the league, actually.
  10. I know it's just a post on a forum but I think someone on sosh made a very sound argument that jarrod is actually above average defensively as a catcher. I'll try to dig it up some time. Something about his pitch framing ability being worth a lot. And the pitchers seem to like him and he is only 27.
  11. I had that thought as well. Using him as a DH but if we can land a great starting pitcher for him, I'd be all in favor. I wouldn't mind the team going your way either though.
  12. I'm still happy that we got rid of him.
  13. I seriously doubt that steinbrenner's rotting corpse is in any position to bribe umpires. If it were even present before the start of a game, we'd be best served by removing the head or destroying the brain.
  14. The Yankees gotta pitch too and they aren't exactly throwing out grade a hurlers themselves. We can handle them. Win the next 2 in Oakland and then go home and clean house vs the skanks.
  15. Plus. As far as the playoffs go, there isn't anybody who's performed much better than Josh Beckett. There's your postseason ace right there.
