One of my fondest memories of the 2012 season was a game at Fenway vs Detroit with Verlander pitching. We had the bases loaded with Nava at the plate and a 3-1 count. Verlander throws a 99mph heater on the outer half and Daniel swings through it. Verlander comes back to the exact same spot on the next pitch at 100mph and Nava smokes it to the wall for a bases-clearing double.
For once. I remember Beckett kicked ass and almost had a bomb in that game as well. This was back when some of us, me chief among them, still harbored beliefs that the 2012 Red Sox were going to be anything other than terrible.
I remember us handling him pretty good last year. Salty took him out to deep center. One of the 10 longest shots of that year in the bigs and Jarrod's only bomb off a lefty in 2012 IIRC.
Well f*** me sideways, we pulled it off. Nothing like leaving Gameday with it 5-1 in the 8th and coming back to see 5-4 with 'em loaded and then Ells coming through.
Downside is that my pants are all sticky now.
Probably not but the fact that we're 30-20 means we can afford to give him some time to figure s*** out because the 30-20 means that other guys are doing well and, therefore, Jonny has a longer leash than if things were the other way around.
We seem to have had good luck with game threads started by the more optimistic posters:
SFF and User got us a couple fivers and I managed a 7. Hopefully RSFFL can keep the trend going.
