I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. I hope the reports about BC willing to give up anything and everything for Stanton aren't true. It just doesn't seem worth it to me.

I agree 100%. We took advantage of a desperate team and in return got ahold of Jake Peavy who we acquired by selling high on a player who didn't really fit into our future plans and would be lucky if he OPS'd .600 going forward. This isn't a terrible deal if it doesn't work out but Peavy, when he's right, is a top of the rotation arm and we have him for the next 2 months and all of 2014. His health is an issue but he threw 219 innings of great baseball last year and his injury this year was his ribs and not arm trouble. I think Jake Peavy is going to turn into a great asset for us going forward.

On a serious note, who do we think might fall to us on waivers that might be useful? I can't think of anyone off the top of my head.

Pedroia was an underpay and is only going to cost around 10 million a year on the back end of the deal.

Those contracts never end well. I don't think there's a player on earth that'd I'd give that much money.

Monkeys in the jungle? And I think Iggy's inability to swing a baseball bat for any sort of positive outcome contributed to this deal more than his inability to speak English.

I'd add Harvey to that list and subtract Miggy purely because he's on the wrong side of 30 but otherwise I agree with you.
