  1. One would assume that a clearly superior team would do better than a 9-9 split, right? Oh wait, the Sox and Yanks split the season series 9-9 both of the past two years. And last year, the it was the Sox AAAA squad that split with the Yanks.
  2. So let me get this straight. The Twins are going to deal a guy who just posted 14 wins and a 3.62 ERA, 9.4 K/9, 0.4 HR/9, a 3.47 K:BB ratio, 11th in the Cy Young voting, and is getting paid a mere $4.3mm, AND isn't going to hit free agency until 2013 for Joba plus some MiLB players, just because Joba can throw 98? Wake me up when that happens. Hell, if that's all they want, the Sox could throw JD Drew at them and get the job done.
  3. RED SOX (0-0) McDonald LF Lowrie 2B Ortiz DH Youkilis 3B Cameron CF Saltalamacchia C Kalish RF Anderson 1B Iglesias SS Pete Abraham of Boston.com is reporting that tomorrow, Drew, Ells, and Craw will all be playing, along with Pedroia, but I would be surprised if Youk plays a 3rd straight game.
  4. I'm assuming Salty is going to catch on Sunday vs MIN, so he's not going to be starting. Gonzo and Drew are going to slowly get eased into the games obviously. I am just curious as to where Crawford is? If Ells, Pedey, and Youk are all playing, why not Craw?
  5. For all of us non-NESN people who have to subscribe to MLB.TV to watch the games, they've finally come out with their Spring Training schedule - http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/official_info/broadcasts/spring_mlbtv.jsp As for the Red Sox - you can watch the following games for them - 3/4 NYY 7:05 PM 3/5 FLA 1:05 PM** 3/6 NYM 1:05 PM 3/9 BAL 7:05 PM 3/10 TB 1:05 PM 3/12 FLA 1:05 PM 3/13 PIT 1:05 PM 3/14 NYY 7:05 PM 3/16 ATL 1:05 PM 3/18 TB 7:05 PM** 3/19 PIT 1:05 PM 3/20 STL 1:05 PM 3/21 PHI 1:05 PM 3/25 TOR 7:05 PM 3/26 MIN 7:05 PM 3/27 BAL 1:05 PM 3/30 HOU 7:05 PM ** denotes a split squad game for the Red Sox I've gotta be honest - I thought MLB.TV would cover maybe 10-12 of the Sox games, but 17 games in 27 days seems like a pretty good deal! One week!!!
  6. MLB Network's 30 clubs in 30 days has the Red Sox covered on 3/21 at 7 pm EST. They also play a ST game @PHI at 1:05 on ESPN that day, so there will be plenty of baseball to watch that day
  7. Pedroia is just such a good 2 slot hitter, I would hate to move him from there. Plus he hits a ton of doubles, so putting Craw behind him would make 2nd base available to swipe even on balls that Pedroia couldn't score on.
  8. Haha. I remember that - said Francona pours water on himself to make it look like he's working out when he really just doesn't do s***.
  9. He sets the table and gets into scoring position. If we just went with the rule of "get Gonzo and Youk the most AB's possible", we would have a line up of: Gonzo Youk Ortiz Pedroia Crawford Drew Ellsbury Scutaro Salty
  10. Wow. So much that I disagree with here. First off - Crawford has 20 HR/100 RBI power when hitting behind Ells and Pedey. He's a prime player to hit in the 3 hole. By putting him in the 3 hole, you extend your line up so well. Ells, Pedey, and Craw will be the top 3, and knowing how much Francona likes LRLRLR, I would say it will go Ells - Pedey - Craw. Why wouldn't you want to have 2 #2 hitters in Pedey and Crawford setting the table for Gonzo Youk and Ortiz? Not to mention the fact that with Crawford and/or Ells on base in front of those 3, pitchers are going to be using the slide step, which creates mistakes, especially hanging breaking balls because their legs get in front of their arm. Crawford is a prime #3 hitter, but if you want to look at it as a Pedroia/Crawford as 2A and 2B, it's fine, whatever makes you comfortable with it, but I can almost guarantee you that Craw is in the 3 slot. The other stuff - Drew hitting 3rd in your 2nd line up is atrocious. He'll be the 7th or 8th man in any line up. Having him hit before Ortiz in the first line up is just as bad. Also, Scutaro will more than likely hit 9th with Salty in the 8th slot. Basically a 2nd lead off. I could see Salty splitting up Ortiz and Drew in the 7th slot with Drew in the 8th slot.
  11. My name is Forsyth. Not ForSyth. And I've gotten better, but fastballs up and offspeed low kills me. It's very difficult to read the pitch and still have time to react.
  12. And he'll probably go in as a Ray
  13. Ahh I changed my mind! Haha. I guess it annoyed me more than I thought haha. Oh well.
  14. Dammit to Hell. I'm not even concerned about the 67 wins anymore. The S in Forsyth is NOT capitalized.:rant::rant::rant::wtf:
  15. Well I can agree that it's probably not going to be a quick fix, where he'll be ready for the 2011 season immediately, but with proper work I could see him making a few appearances around June, especially if Oki gets back to his 2010 ways or Hill doesn't pan out. I'm a huge fan of power pitchers in the bullpen, I like guys who can come in and post a big strikeout in big situations, like Bard. I think Miller is going to be this kind of a player. I'm curious to see if he gets a bit more comfortable in Boston with Bard there, since they were teammates at UNC. As for the mental part - there's no telling how bad the Marlins jacked him up.
  16. From Boston.com - Man. If Miller came up mid season throwing 96-98 from the left side, and we paired that with Jenks, Bard, and Papelbon, that would be absolutely sick.
  17. Really? Now the Yankees are going to win 108 games?
  18. I understand his argument. I'm saying that 67 wins from your front four is ridiculous for any team. I would be pretty surprised if Halladay - Lee - Oswalt - Hamels combined for 67. The Yanks bullpen last year had 23 wins, which has gotten a lot better this year, but even if they stay consistent with last year, that's 90 wins alone from your bullpen and your starting 4. Add Garcia and some spot starters, and all of a sudden you're looking at a 100+ win season for the Yankees?? Not even close. Yanks will be at around 92 wins as currently constructed.
  19. I will say this - he went on a fantastic stretch from 6/26 - 9/2, where he threw in 21 games for 26 innings to the tune of a 1.38 ERA and a .156 BAA. That's what he needs to build on.
  20. Papelbon on D&C on WEEI - So I decided to look that up because, from what I remembered, he sucked in September. April - August - 2.91 ERA, 33 saves, 6 blown saves. Sept/Oct - 8.74 ERA, 4 saves, 2 blown saves. Listen, Pap. You better not carry Sept into the offseason or you may not play baseball again.
