  1. Exactly. The term that should be used for Wakefield is one-dimensional. Your long relief pitcher should be a guy who you can throw 3-4 innings, or he can come in and throw the 7th inning in a tie game or close game. *cough Aceves cough* Wakefield is wasted unless we are cruising or we're getting crushed. And neither of those, nor the combination of those, occur near often enough to justify dedicating a roster spot specifically for that.
  2. Got to expect Varitek catching today. Night game followed by day game, Buchholz throwing tomorrow, and Beckett pitching on Thursday, so you know Tek will be catching on Thursday.
  3. Well. The reason I had Lowrie as trade bait is because I don't know how much the front office is going to buy into 1.5 seasons of .900+ OPS baseball from a guy who has historically been fairly injury prone, especially when they have Iggy in the minors. So they'll be put in a situation where they can take a chance with a guy who is a future gold glove SS who doesn't hit to a .900 OPS but is a wall at SS, or they can take a chance with a guy who has crushed the past couple seasons, defense is average, and has had injury problems. Now to be fair, I don't think you can even get close to justifying the classification of mono as being "injury prone" and if he is hitting, his wrist is clearly better. I think the FO will probably gamble with Iggy, though. And his defense is really unbelievable. But I don't think they have considered that they may be faced with a choice of a .900 OPS or a gold glover at SS.
  4. Yeah the health is a big question mark. But if the guy slows down to a .320 average or something like that, and plays 110 - 120 games, I think they're going to have a pretty tough decision on their hands. Worst case scenario, Lowrie plays 120+ this year, hits 18-20 HR, drives in 65-70, and becomes big trade bait for a catcher or a SP.
  5. Oh s***. I just realized why DiceK threw so well today. Two words. International Opponent. DiceK went straight into WBC mode.
  6. Maybe I'm missing your point. Either way, I think that if he's going to get boo'd off the mound, it can't be a double standard. If he's boo'd off for an atrocious outing, he should get a standing ovation for a solid outing. His outing today was as good as his last outing was bad. That's all I'm saying, if the fans are going to be quick to break out the boo birds, they should be on their feet when someone has such a massive overhaul in 6 days. By the way, just to piss Dipre off. Going back to last season, Lowrie is hitting .322/.400/.564/.964 with 11 HR, 33 RBI, 27 BB, and 28 K's over 66 games. Annualized to a 162 game season, thats hitting .322/.400/.564/.964 with 27 HR, 81 RBI, and 39 Doubles. I know, I know. SSS, but still. The guy has carried his last season into this season flawlessly. At what point do you start to wonder "Is this guy really a .300 hitter with 20 HR/75 RBI potential?" And if he really is that guy, what do you do with him? Super-utility/DH, but everyday player? Starting SS and *gulp* dish Iglesias + some others for a stud young pitcher?
  7. By the way, where the hell has Dipre been? I really want to talk to him about Lowrie right about now
  8. Yeah. You're right. We should all just sit silently rather than cheering on our team. Because hell, we already paid our admission or are paying for cable to watch the game on NESN, so we're basically paying their salaries. In fact, they should write each and every fan a thank you letter and send us a ham at Christmas because we're their boss. Doesn't work like that man. Obviously none of us can sit down and say "Hey DiceK, great outing today. Keep it up man." So what do we do instead? We show our approval by cheering, and if anyone on that team needed confirmation that he was playing in front of a crowd that was behind him, it was DiceK.
  9. Man. After Monday's outing, the guy needed a pick me up. Bad. He got boo'd as bad as you can get boo'd, and deservedly so, but if he's going to get what he deserves, he deserved a standing ovation today to let him know that Boston is behind him if he throws like that.
  10. Damn that felt good. I feel like Dexter when he makes a kill.
  11. Alex Rodriguez - 4 HR Robinson Cano - 4 HR Curtis Granderson - 4 HR Albert Pujols - 4 HR Ryan Braun - 4 HR Prince Fielder - 3 HR Ryan Howard - 3 HR Jacoby Ellsbury - 4 HR??!?!
  12. What the hell Ellsbury? Are you kidding me?!?! I love you.
  13. Francona needs to let DiceK start the 8th and then go get him after he records the first out or lets the first man get on base. Dice needs to walk off to a standing ovation after that outing today. Especially after getting boo'd so bad last outing.
  14. I can't drive 26 miles in 2 hours and 3 minutes. Probably because the hot sign is on at krispy kreme and I have to stop.
  15. HELL f***ING YEAH CARL CRAWFORD!!!!!!!!!!
  16. Good Lord. Lowrie. Again. This guy is unreal. Crawford needs to get white hot here.
  17. This is the team. If Crawford can start hitting. Watch the f*** out.
  18. Lowrie could be a perfect DH/Utility IF next year. Everyday player, whether at 3rd, SS, 2nd, or 1st. Gives the regulars a little break, they can DH while he plays the field for them.
