There's a difference between bitching about JD Drew and looking at the team and addressing a big hole on the team. You can't expect the team to hit .350 all season and score 15 runs a game (Yea. Over the past 2 games, we've averaged 15 runs per game  that just sounds awesome).
Regardless, JD Drew is a big hole in the line up. Cam is also a big hole. What it boils down to is that RF should be a power hitting spot, or at least a 20 HR/80 RBI spot. JD Drew has provided that for us in the past, but right now he isn't giving us that production, and it's not like he's snake bitten either. His Contact% is consistent with career norms, his LD, GB, and FB% are all within 3% of career norms. He's just making incredibly weak contact and his swing looks awful, to be blunt.
If there were no options out there that would make the team better, we would just have to put up with it and hope that the line up around him makes up for his lack of offense, but you've got Carlos Beltran who is hitting .288 with an .884 OPS while playing 1/2 of his games at Citi Field. And if you don't think that's significant, look at how Bay has conformed to the new park. Then there is Josh Reddick, who came up and showed us that he's quite possibly ready to make the transition.
The bottom line is this - there's bitching, and there's talking about improving the team. Just because we've played well the past few weeks doesn't mean this team doesn't have any holes on it, and it would be careless not to address these holes.
