  1. If I had to choose between John Lackey, who has a 7.50 ERA at the ASB, or Jason Bay, who has proven he can kill it at Fenway, I take Bay every single day. Not to mention, in his last 15 games, Bay is hitting .322/.394/.559/.953 and appears to be turning it around. I would trade Lackey for Bay, and eat a portion of Lackey's contract instantly if the opportunity came up.
  2. Dude. I would pull the trigger on that deal so fast. I know Crawford doesn't have the arm for RF, but his speed would be so much more valuable out there than in the friendly confines of Fenway LF.
  3. He's definitely got some work ahead of him. Had a hard time finding the strike zone last night, (57.7% strikes). First inning, the one that killed him, he got behind of just about every hitter he faced. I think he may have had 2 first pitch strikes in the 6 men he faced. After that, he seemed to settle down a little bit at least. I'd say he was a little nervous facing an AL East opponent for the first time, and that's understandable. I think we'll have a better take as to what he can bring to the table in just a few more starts. His velocity that was advertised at 95-97 is really 89-92, which is confusing. Regardless, he's 3-0, the Sox are 4-0 in games he's started, and he's got a 3.57 ERA. He needs to work on getting ahead of the hitters better, and being more efficient. The one thing he really needs to work on is a put away pitch. He doesn't seem to have anything that can mow someone down in an 0-2 or 1-2 count.
  4. Miller getting squeezed right now. Not helping.
  5. Oddly enough, I'm probably the most excited about games in which Miller starts right now. I am so pumped to see if he can continue to harness his potential and really become a top of the rotation pitcher. Tonight is a good step for him.
  6. The reason for the defensive indifference is so that the 1st baseman doesn't hold him on and has a ton more range. The runner has a huge lead and huge jump, so there's no reason to try to throw out the runner, it wouldn't even be close.
  7. It's crazy how the cream is rising to the top. BOS and NYY are both 51 game winners (Yanks have 1 fewer loss). Both have W% of .595-.600 (97 win season). Outside of that, the best record in the AL is the Rays (.552, 89 wins), Guardians (.541, 88 wins), and Tigers (.523, 85 wins). PHI and ATL are the BOS and NYY of the NL. PHI has a .632 W% (102 wins), ATL has a .591 W% (96 wins), and the closest to them is SF, with a .552 W% (89 wins). After that it's the Brewers who are at .523, on track for just 85 wins. Pretty crazy.
  8. Wow. Our rotation right now is Beckett - Lackey - Miller - Aceves - Wakefield. That's insane.
  9. Tribe win, 5-3. Gardner goes down looking. Sox hold on and it'll be 1/2 of a game with the Sox facing BAL and the Yanks facing TB to finish out the first "half". Sox could be in 1st by the ASB.
  10. There's no harm in an update from a division rival with a lead on you. Definitely not enough to call someone out for it.
  11. Hey. Anyone know when Swisher is going to release his "Hey, listen, I've spent half my salary this year on these damn Tommy Bahama shirts and now I need a reason to wear them. I thought I was a lock for the ASG, but now I'm making youtube videos and begging celebrities so tweet 'Vote for Swish' so that I can go to Anaheim" video?
  12. Yeah the throw didn't take Tek up or down the line at all, he was able to stay in position to block the plate. Tek did a great job to block the plate, but that tag seemed abnormally late. Oh well, we won!
  13. If that was us, I'd be irate.
  14. DARNELL!! i don't think Tek got the tag down though.
  15. Today: Media: So, Lester, you looked like you had nasty, no-hit stuff out there tonight, were you feeling good? Lester: Ah, man, I have a strained lat, so I wasn't feeling great. Yesterday: Media: So, Lackey, looked like you didn't have your stuff tonight. Everything ok, physically? Lackey: For sure, man. I feel great. I felt like I threw better than I have all year. Just some bloop hits hurt. Nothing physical, for sure. Son of a bitch....baseball gods got it wrong.
  16. If it's not that severe of a strain, he may avoid a DL stint and just skip his start on Sunday, get 4 days off, and then make his next start on the 19th. That'd give him 15 days rest, so I guess a DL stint would be the same.
  17. I like this Morales guy. Since coming off the DL, he hasn't allowed a single run in 5 outings, walking only 1.
  18. Left lat strain for Lester.
