  1. Sox need to see how well Millers stuff plays out of the bullpen. If he can get his 92-93 mph fastball up to 96-97 in spurts out of the bullpen, he could be incredibly valuable.
  2. Harden is one of the best strikeout pitchers in the MLB. Over the past 4 years, he's got a 10.0 K/9. That's pretty solid. I think he can be a big piece in this puzzle. Regardless, he's better than Miller and Wakefield.
  3. Um. The Sox have had a streak of 4+ consecutive losses just 3 times. The 0-6 start, and then two times they had a 4 game losing streak. Hardly a "streaky team" And FWIW, the Sox have had 6 streaks of 4+ consecutive wins. As long as they have 2X the amount of win streaks as they have losing streaks, I don't think there's anything to be worried about.
  4. Alright sorry. Either way, I agree.
  5. The thing is - you don't need him healthy for a full season. You need him healthy for about 13 starts, or about 70-75 innings. The Sox are almost a little bit fortunate that he's missed significant time this year because he could be a huge asset to this team come September when Beckett and Lester are wearing down a bit and he's still pretty fresh. I think it was BTR that said it earlier, it's going it be very interesting to see how he reacts to being back with Curt Young.
  6. This times a million. I'd take Beckett, Lester, and Buchholz over any pitcher that the Yankees have not named CC. And if Harden is healthy, I'd take him too. A rotation of CC - Burnett - Colon is going to get torched in a short series.
  7. The more I look into this trade, the more I'm excited about it. If Harden stays healthy, he's an absolute stud.
  8. :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
  9. If Harden can get back together with Curt Young, he could be fantastic. He was K'ing 10+/9 back in his glory days at Oakland. If Young can get him back into that pitcher, that's a fantastic rotation.
  10. About time Gonzo powered up!
  11. That's an outrageously solid return for Lars Anderson right there. EDIT: Maybe the Sox can give the PTBNL from they got from trading McKenry to the Pirates over to the A's. :dunno:
  12. Harden for Lars Anderson is a good deal. He was pumping 94 vs NYY. He's a solid pitcher if he stays healthy.
  13. Lars Andrerson + PTBNL for Harden. EDIT: Ah, feels good to be late to the party.
  14. Is there a game going on right now?
  15. I still can't believe the Tribe are trading Drew Pomeranz.
  16. Better include Willingham in that deal.
  17. Me too. MLB Network's coverage of the Winter Meetings is one of my favorite things to watch.
  18. I'd be surprised if it was the Rox actually refusing a standard physical. It was probably more of something like this: Yanks: We need to run a physical on Jimenez. It will take 3-4 days, so we need to get this hammered out today so that we don't get held up. Rox: We'll let you take a standard physical but we're not going to rush this deal just so you can run extensive tests. He has a 3.03 ERA since 6/1, he's fine. Yanks: Well then we're out. I'm sure Cashman was trying to just push a deal and force the Rockies to make a quick decision. Either way, the Sox are extremely thorough in their acquisitions (See: Crawford), so if they pull the trigger on something, I'm sure he's fine.
  19. Can't trade Lowrie bc he's on DL, but maybe add him as PTBNL? I'm not sure how that works.
  20. Our farm is extremely strong in the lower minors, with the likes of Bogaerts, Brentz, Chiang, Cecchini, Vitek, Brandon Jacobs, etc. The huge strength that the Red Sox have right now is that they are locked up at every position for years, if you count the combo of Reddick/Kalish and Iglesias. So they have a lot of spare parts. If you add Jimenez to the Sox, you could have your rotation set for the next 2-3 years as well. Basically, if our farm gets a little depleted at the upper levels, it's not going to hurt as bad because we have young, strong talent at the MLB level locked up for years.
