  1. Exactly. God, everytime Varitek comes to the plate, I am just praying he doesn't ground into a double play. Even with the bases empty.
  2. Assume we split the next two games, and TB wins the next two, so they're 1 back on Sunday. Do you give Aceves/Buchholz the start on Sunday? I absolutely do. Even if Ace goes 5 IP, Buch for 2 IP, you absolutely CANNOT start Lackey. No chance.
  3. I'm shocked. After ALLLLLLLLLLLLLL this talk about the lack of pitching depth, it's not even in your top 5 priorities?!? IMO 1. Obtain a #3-4 Starter 2. Sign Pap/Ortiz, exercise Scut's option 3. Obtain pitching depth (Bruce Chen, Chris Capuano, Livan Hernandez type players) 4. Get some bullpen arms (Mike Gonzalez, please?)
  4. Blue Jays just walked off against Angels!!!! Angels E# 4 Rays E# 5 Games Left: 6 Win tomorrow, and watch Morrow and Romero make clowns out of the Rays, and lets get to the damn post season boys!!!!
  5. The Sox won't be big players this offseason at all in terms of FA signings. They will, however, make a substantial trade for a SP, you can count on that. More than likely a top of the rotation guy. Guy like Felix, J Johnson, Dan Haren, or potentially a middle of the rotation guy like John Danks.
  6. Even if Ells does just get 7mm, they will be at $170 easy after arb increases. Bard hits his first year of arb too. He will get a pretty substantial raise. Aceves hits his first year of arb as well. After the season he's having, he will have a lot of leverage as well.
  7. Arbitration is determined using the 40/60/80 rule. It's 40%/60%/80% of FA value. FA value is determined at 4x WAR. So Ells 4 year average WAR, including his injury season, is 3.82. 3.82 * 4 * .6 = 9.18. He and Boras will get that up to $10 easy after this season.
  8. Unfortunately you're wrong here man. You look at that $126mm for next year, then you add Pap's $15mm, Ortiz's $10mm, a salary of around $10mm for Ellsbury, and then around $12mm in other arb salaries (the original amounts aren't included in the $126mm). That puts you at $176mm right there alone.
  9. [/b] Even if it's only for his stick during interleague games. Dude rakes.
  10. Russell Martin on facing the #RedSox this weekend: "Anything to get the Red Sox out would be awesome for me. ... I'd love to see them lose." Hope you don't mind your back knee getting broken by a cutter.
  11. This weekend is a big series for the Sox. I just want to see this team get pissed off and score about 35 runs this weekend. I don't care if it's against the Yankees AA team.
  12. Assuming both the Angels and Rays win today, we'll be 2 up with 6 to play. If we can pull out a win with Lester on the bump tomorrow, we'll just have to win 2 of our last 5 and we're basically in. Unless the Rays or Angels go 5-1, that gets us into the post season. If the Angels and/or Rays lose today, we'll be 3 up with 6 to play. If we can pull out a win with Lester on the bump tomorrow, and we win 2 of our last 5, the Rays and Angels will have to win out. Needless to say, all of the pressure is on them. Even though it doesn't feel that way. This team has got to find a way to kick it into gear. That being said, in our other 2 trips to NY this season, we went in stumbling: Trip 1: 3-4 before NYY series, Sweep NYY, 10-2 after NYY series. Trip 2: 3-4 before NYY series, Sweep NYY, 8-2 after NYY series Trip 3: 2-5 before NYY series. Lets hope that we can at least be consistent in how we play the Yankees. Maybe a NYY series is just what we need. Who knows. We need something.
  13. At least the Sox can try to take 2/3 from a scrub Yankee line up, and 2/3 from the Orioles and, at worst, force a play in game. And that's what it's come to.
  14. Go Yanks. Go Jays. Put us up by 3 in the L column by tomorrow night.
  15. 3-8 in final 11 games. Won the division by 1.5 games. Astros went 10-2 in final 12. Going into the final series of the season, the Card's were 1 game up in the L column (0.5 games up overall)
  16. Yankees went 3-15 in their last 18 games in 2000, losing their last 7 straight, then ran the table.
  17. Check this out - Going into NYY on 5/13, Red Sox were 3-4 in last 7. After NYY series, Sox went on a 10-2 tear. Going into NYY on 6/7, Red Sox were 3-4 in last 7. After NYY series, Sox went on an 8-2 tear Going into NYY on 9/23, Red Sox will be 2-5 in last 7. We need to use the Yanks series as another catapult. Bad.
  18. Well, I just can't comprehend the collapse that the Red Sox are in right now.
  19. It's f***ing pathetic that this team is so s***** right now that they are depending on the Yankees to take care of the s*** they couldn't take care of. It's like asking your big brother to beat up the bully in class. f***ing pathetic. No respect for this team right now. None.
  20. Holy s***. Robertson is a magician.
