  1. Going to need a few quick innings after that 31 pitch 1st.
  2. Damn. Alright, got 2 back, and we can get to this guy. Got to him with the bottom of the order, we can get to him with the top.
  3. Damn swung at ball 3.
  4. Alright Pedey. Make this hurt right here. Come on now.
  5. Ells needs to rip one down the RF line.
  6. That was at his eyes!!!!
  7. Damn it sure would be nice to have Ellsbury up right now instead of Punto.
  8. Atta boy Aviles!! Damn that ball carried. I thought that ball was a lazy fly out
  9. Wow. Strike 2 was in the same spot as Ball 1. Awesome consistency blue, you freaking bum. And Strike 2 to Ortiz was about 6 inches off the plate.
  10. Well. This isn't very enjoyable.
  11. Uh. ******** call right there. Jackson was out. Edit: Damn. Nevermind he was safe. How do you bounce one that bad from 30 feet away, Aviles?
  12. Alright here we go. Get the W, boys!
  13. Yeah I'm an optimistic fan because I saw how well this team played last year with a horrible back end of the rotation, so I know they're better than a 90-72 record. I was just reacting to a post that said all of this was to be expected, etc, because its really not to be expected. I even said "If you project Beckett to post a 3.8-4.2 ERA, that's reasonable (which is what you've since projected, so that's reasonable)" but even that would have been 7 IP, 3 ER (which translates to a 3.86 ERA). Beckett's outing today was beyond atrocious so the fact that people are saying it wasn't surprising is crazy, that's all. And if anything, I would call this year the last chance for guys like Youkilis and Ortiz to win a WS with this team. Next year will be the year where they are starting to rebuild by using guys like Iglesias, Lavarnway, Middlebrooks, etc.
  14. RED SOX (0-2) Punto 3B Ellsbury CF Pedroia 2B Gonzalez 1B Ortiz DH McDonald LF Sweeney RF Aviles SS Shoppach C Pitching: RHP Clay Buchholz (6-3, 3.48 in 2011) Hm. That's weird. Seems like after yesterday's game, someone said that Ellsbury would be moved down to the 2 slot and that same person got crushed for saying that.
  15. All I'm saying is he could very well put Sweeney at the top of the order since LHH hit Scherzer very well, and Sweeney is hitting the ball well right now, plus the fact that V likes to have a lefty in the 2 hole.
  16. Wouldn't be surprised if Valentine has Sweeney hitting leadoff, Ells 2, Pedey 3, Gonzo 4, Ortiz 5, Youk 6, Salty 7, Ross 8.
  17. Aren't you so pissed the Sox are going to go 0-162?? Maybe I've got it all wrong. I thought a "rebuilding year" was when you dished off contracts for minor league high ceiling talent. Guess they'll be rebuilding for the next 4-7 years.
  18. Buchholz has historically been very good vs Detroit (1-1, 2.58 ERA over 37.1 IP). Miggy is 3 for 15 against him in his career, and he has never faced Fielder. We'll see. We need a stopper. The good news - Scherzer has thrown 13.1 IP vs BOS, posting a 9.45 ERA. Most of the damage was done last year, when he threw 2 IP, allowing 7 ER. Favorable match up if the bats can wake up.
  19. Yes. Youk's 57% K rate is expected. His .000/.000/.000 line is expected. Beckett's 9 HR/9 is expected. His 13.49 ERA is what we all expected. I mean if those numbers aren't surprising to you, then you're delusional. If you expected Beckett to have around a 3.8-4.2 ERA, fine. But to get blown up for 5 bombs and 7 ER over 4.2 IP, and say that you expected that? That's just a lie.
  20. Games like today are the reason that watching baseball is better than any sport. You play like complete dogshit and get the s*** knocked out of you, but it only counts once, and you always play tomorrow.
  21. Beckett has now allowed 6 ER or more in each of his last 3 starts. Yikes. Even years crush this guy.
  22. Past 3 years now, this team has come out anemic in the Opening series (1-7 in past 3 Opening Series). Not sure how they can play this bad. Well, bad day by Beckett. Buchholz vs Scherzer should give the Sox an edge. Doesn't matter if the offense can't hit, though. Youkilis looks so out of sorts that I'm wondering if Crawford can play 3rd. His swing has holes everywhere. Just looks so uncomfortable. Get the win tomorrow, boys.
  23. Well damn. Gotta come out and get the W tomorrow. Should have taken 2/3 in Detroit, but need to at least get 1 W under the belt and then go roll over Toronto. Maybe Ellsbury/Aviles/Youkilis/Ross will get a knock this year.
