  1. Quotes from Bobby V via Clubhouse Insider.
  2. Great article by Alex Speier on Adrian Gonzalez's slow start. http://www.weei.com/sports/boston/baseball/red-sox/alex-speier/2012/04/25/after-early-struggles-adrian-gonzalez-ready-re Pretty amazing how this season replicates last season in terms of Gonzo's performance. I really think this team is about to go on an absolute tear right now, not only because they are playing better, but also because of the schedule they have ahead of them. Would not surprise me in the least if they are 11-11 on April 30th, and then go about 20-9 in May and are 31-20 (.608) and in 1st or 2nd in the East by June 1. Then you get guys like Ellsbury, Crawford, Hill, DiceK, and eventually Bailey coming back, and you can make a good run at it this year. I'm very encouraged right now.
  3. Crawford getting a 2nd opinion on his elbow, but according to Silverman of the Boston Herald, the Red Sox "expect/hope it's just to confirm that there it is nothing serious". Valentine said that Crawford is doing so well with his return from wrist surgery that he doesn't want to have another setback, and thus is getting a 2nd opinion to make sure there's nothing serious going on. Sounds a lot like Beckett's thumb. Just getting peace of mind so he can go out there and go all out without having that in the back of his mind.
  4. And after all that... If the Sox hold on for the W tonight, we'll only be 3 back in the L column.
  5. Darvish going for the CG!
  6. Was that Lars first MLB hit??
  7. 100 through 6. Give him the 7th. Don't coddle these pitchers. They need to be able to throw 110-115 pitches per outing.
  8. Beckett at 85 pitches through 5. He's settled down nicely after that 37 pitch 1st. One more quick inning, and he can go 7 IP.
  9. I was afraid that's how that comment would come across. I was not trying to say we need Iglesias. Not at all. I have zero interest in Iglesias right now. Aviles is playing extremely well for us. I was just pointing it out because the fly ball had just happened and it reminded me of something that Valentine said about how well Iglesias goes back and gets those balls.
  10. By no means am I advocating Iggy right now, the way Aviles is hitting. I was just pointing out the type of hit that Iglesias has apparently got a knack for.
  11. Did Pumpsie just say something positive about this team?!? I'm putting that in my sig!
  12. From what I heard, those pop ups that Aviles just dropped are the balls that Iglesias make look simple.
  13. He was hitting .333/.347/.576 from the leadoff slot coming into the game tonight. A 3 hit game with 2 doubles and a HR only enhanced those numbers. His average has bumped to .389, and I'm too lazy to calc the other numbers, but suffice to say he's likely OPS'ing over 1.000 from the leadoff slot.
  14. Damn Aviles is scorching hot tonight.
  15. Byrd startin to get hot!!
  16. Very nice grab by Byrd right there.
  17. If Beckett was getting the strike zone called properly, he wouldn't have taken 30 min.
  18. Looked at the map. It's extremely scattered, and nothing hard on the way.
  19. Just noticed it's the battle of the Japanese in Arlington. Darvish v Kuroda.
  20. Ross goes deep here.
  21. I love seeing Ortiz run as hard as he can down the line in a 7-1 game.
