    Iglesias catches that. Aviles should be at 3rd, Iggy at SS tonight since Youk's out of the lineup. Having Punto playing in front of Iglesias is inexcusable.

    Middlebrooks is in the lineup tonight for the PawSox.

    Couple things: 1. Middlebrooks has a slightly injured thumb, which is why Iglesias is up today instead of Middlebrooks. But, having said that, Middlebrooks is in the lineup for the Pawsox tonight, so I'm not quite sure why he's able to play for the PawSox but not for the Red Sox. Maybe they want him at full strength before he makes that jump from AAA to MLB, which is understandable. 2. If we're just going to dick away an out every 9th hitter by using Punto at 3B, why the hell don't we get some good defense out of it, put Aviles at 3rd and Iglesias at SS?? That makes zero sense to me other than just not wanting to throw off Aviles at all.

    Youk out again. Punto playing again. 3rd consecutive game. Youk needs to hit the 15 day DL if he's going to keep being DTD like this because before you know, you look back and you have Punto starting 10 of the last 12 games in a situation where Youk could have just hit the DL, gotten his back completely better without trying to rush it, and we still have a good 3B playing everyday rather than Punta.

    Youk out of the lineup yet again tonight (Tuesday, game 2). Can we please call up WMB already?!?!? I am so sick of this same story over and over. Youkilis hurt. Again and again and again.

    While I agree that the bullpen didn't look very good because of all of the baserunners, they still worked themselves out of the jams and didn't allow a run, and if Punto catches that easy pop up, the bullpen doesn't look nearly as bad because they get out of a 1st and 2nd jam, not a bases loaded jam. Deceiving? Sure. But count your lucky stars that this performance wasn't against a better hitting team. Fortunate that this was against the lowly A's offense. Either way - the pen got the job done, ugly as it was, and didn't allow a run, so I'm not sure you can say the lead wasn't "bullpen proof" because once the SP left, no more runs were scored. And when it's IL, Ortiz plays 1st, Gonzo plays RF. Bobby was already prepping for that in ST.
