  1. Should be unearned. I can't believe they gave Miggy a base hit. Pathetic.
  2. Uh. Yeah. A jam shot bloop single and a DP ball that Aviles missed. Yeah. s***** Lester.
  3. No bleeping way that's a hit. That's ********.
  4. I hate jam shots. You have the guy beat and he flubs one out for a knock.
  5. Did you see last September? God is clearly a Rays fan. And for what it's worth, almost all of these DL trips are decided by the FO, not by the players, and the rehab stints are closely observed by the training staff. So it's tough to call out the players when they would rather play through the injuries except for every wince a player makes is analyzed and the FO throws them on the DL.
  6. Sounds like no DL stint, just maybe the next 2 days off. From my comprehension, seems like he'll be back in the lineup in TOR.
  7. Yeah. Even the most pessimistic person would expect 94 at about the lowest. I was expecting him to sit in the mid 95s myself.
  8. No joke. Damn. This is ridiculous. I'm hearing that Pedroia is going to be out for a month. Call up Iglesias, except he's battling nagging injuries and hasn't been in a lineup since Friday, and isn't playing tonight. JHC. This season is complete s***. And oh by the way, Oswalt signed with the Rangers. Because they are in such dire need.
  9. Uh. I'd much rather see Middlebrooks at 2B than Punto anywhere.
  10. Considering his average FB during his 1st start vs TOR was 95 mph, and touched 98mph, then in his last start he averaged 92 mph, touching 94, I would expect that he's not right. So when he comes out and says "I finally feel like myself again", I would think that would be a good thing. When his FB sits 95 and he can gear it up to 98 when needed, that makes all of his other pitches much more effective, especially his slider. I'm not saying he's going to dominate or throw harder, I'm just anxious to see how his comments translate into performance.
  11. Hughes vs Weaver. Angels have a bit of an advantage there. Plus the Jays play the O's, so we are picking up a game on one of them today. Sox are now only 4 back in the L column from the Rays, 3 back from the Yanks in the L column.
  12. I am anxious to see how Bard throws tomorrow. He claims to have found something in his bullpen session this week and that he feels like himself again. Does that mean he is going to be throwing 95-96 again? Who knows. We sure could use a big outing from Bard tomorrow against Verlander. Need to score early against him so Bard doesn't feel like he has to be perfect. Easier said than done. It would make sense, though. The Sox would wait to get over .500 against the best pitcher in baseball
  13. Yeah I have to expect that the Sox will be buyers this trade deadline. They are 2.5 games back in the WC right now, as bad as the season has been. I can't imagine that they will be dealers instead of buyers if they can even stay in sniffing distance. If the ChiSox hold on. The Sox will only be 4 back in the L column from the Rays, and I'm sorry but I'm not worried about the Orioles, so for all intents and purposes, the Rays are the 1st place team today, even if they lose and the O's win. Anyway. With Ellsbury, Crawford, Ross, and Bailey all coming off of the DL around mid season, I would definitely expect the Sox to go for it this year.
  14. Ah come on!! Nova had a 3.70 era and 16 wins for the Yanks last season. Doubront has a 3.86 era and 5 wins in 10 starts this season. I know you were joking, though.
  15. Per espn fantasy news: Pedroia suffered a jammed right thumb in Monday's game, reports Scott Lauber of the Boston Herald. Spin: Pedroia owners can breathe a sigh of relief. He left Monday's game after sustaining the injury on a diving play to end the fifth inning. He shouldn't miss much time, if any at all.
  16. Pitch counts are almost always a problem with up and comers because MLB hitters won't chase like AAA hitters, and can spoil good 2 strike pitches that AAA hitters would swing and miss. His pitch counts will go down with experience. I really think we should be thrilled with what we've gotten from him so far. I said it all during Spring Training, and I'll say it again. Doubront is going to be the Red Sox Ivan Nova this season. He has been excellent so far, and his FIP and xFIP are lower than his ERA, indicating that even as good as he has been, he has been getting a little unlucky and should be a mid 3's ERA guy.
  17. Jammed right thumb for Pedroia. Good deal, nothing serious.
  18. Boy I do not understand the Punto signing.
  19. He also throws a fast 92-93. By that, I mean the ball gets on the hitter quickly. You can really tell by how late the swings are on his fastball, from both sides of the plate.
  20. You can't expect ace innings from your #4/5 starter, especially a virtual rookie. Can't complain about the job that Doubront has done. He has been our best SP this season, and it looks like he's got top of the rotation stuff.
