  1. I would go: Lester - He's been the most consistent starter IMO. He's averaging 6.1 IP per start, leaving only 8 outs for the bullpen. He's got a 2.45 ERA in his last 5 starts, and has 21 K's and only 6 BB's. He started out rough, but he's the ace of the team. Beckett - After that whole lat strain followed by the golfing incident/Cleveland game, he's settled down and been as good as anyone in baseball. He's had 2 horrid starts, but outside of those, he's been excellent. He allowed 14 ER in 2 bad starts (25.20 ERA), and 10 ER in his other 6 (2.03 ERA). That equates to allowing 58.33% of his total ER in 25% of his total starts. He looks like he's settled in nicely, and I think we'll see two very well pitched games this weekend vs TB. Doubront - Doesn't get deep into games, but doesn't allow a lot of runs either. His ERA of 3.96 is 2nd among Red Sox starters to Lester (3.95). He's turning into a solid starter, just needs to get deeper into games and focus after 2 outs because right now, he loses focus after he gets the first 2 outs and then ends up with a 2 out walk. Bard - Really needs to get his control and some velocity back. He looks like he's throwing the ball sideways. It's very strange. He's not on top of the ball like he used to be, his fingers appear to be on the side of the ball, and his velocity has dropped a lot. I expected a velocity drop in the 1.5-2.5mph range, but 4 mph off his FB is crazy. And he has lost a lot of control. I'm not sure this experiment is going to work. Aaron Cook - Yup. Buch doesn't make my list. Cook had a numb leg after the 2nd inning of his last outing. His sinkerball could workout well as a 5th man, go deep into games and make it a quick game. Works fast, keeps the defense on its toes without lulling them to sleep. Buchholz needs to head back to AAA to figure his s*** out. Until then, Aaron Cook (when he is done rehabbing), should get the nod as the 5th man.
  2. Yes. And we won. Stay away!!! :harhar:
  3. And after all the s*** this team has been through with injuries and piss poor play, we're still only 1 game out of the WC in the L column. The 2nd place team in both the AL West and AL Central are at or below .500. The Sox are 4 back in the L column from the Rays right now, with a 3 game set against them this weekend. This team could very well be within striking distance by the time reinforcements come along if they can just continue to grind out wins.
  4. Squeeze with the bases loaded?? Are you serious???
  5. Yeah. Because he grounded out once he shouldn't be leadoff now.
  6. Put up a big, crooked number here please.
  7. Bard's fastball has dropped from averaging 97.9 in 2010, 97.3 in 2011, to 93.3 in 2012. His velocity is no longer good enough to get away with pitches that catch too much of the plate. Plus, his slider isn't as effective because people don't have to have 98 cheese in the back of their mind. He doesn't have the control to be a SP, plain and simple. He needs to go back to the bullpen where he can post an ERA in the 2's and contribute to 70-75 games a year. I know people always say "180 innings is more important than 75 innings". Well. I think shutting the door on 65 close games is more important than 180 mediocre innings over 32 games.
  8. Aviles's RngR this season is at 2.8, which is 3rd best among all SS in the MLB this season.
  9. This team is getting absolutely bitch hit to death.
  10. Terrible, terrible, terrible showing by the offense tonight. I don't expect them to put up 8 runs a game, but they should have more than 2 hits and a walk against a guy who had a 1.70 WHIP this season coming into tonights game. That's unacceptable.
  11. Pretty pathetic showing from the offense today. 2 hits?? Seriously?? That's unacceptable.
  12. His slider and curve must be near impossible to read out of the hand.
  13. 6 IP, 2 ER. Can't ask for much more than that from your #4 starter, especially a rookie. Doubront's ERA down to 3.96 now.
  14. We'll get to Matusz. Likely in the 6th or 7th, when he has extended too far.
  15. Welcome Back YOUK!!! Would be awesome to see he and WMB go back to back!
  16. We'll get to him. Don't worry.
