Got into a lot of 3 ball counts early on (I think 5 3-ball counts in first 9 batters faced). Went 6.1, 2 ER, 7 K's, 1 BB. Another very good performance from him. More than you could ask from a #4. He's throwing more like a #2-3 lately.
Next starts for Doubront (6-2) until ASB:
vs WAS (.678 OPS vs LHP)
@ MIA (.695 OPS vs LHP)
vs MIA (.695 OPS vs LHP)
vs TOR (.716 OPS vs LHP)
@ SEA (.660 OPS vs LHP)
vs NYY (.790 OPS vs LHP)
Could Doubront possibly be a 10 game winner by the ASB??
The good thing is that they're winning without him playing well. We all know he's going to get white hot soon enough. He's going to be a guy who will carry the team for a month.
I'm not, but it looked like Sweeney was looking for someone to throw to and nobody in the infield was paying attention or trying to cut it off.
But holy s***. Punto just made up for it.
That was one of the stupidest baserunning mistakes I've seen in a long, long time (Ellsbury did the same thing last year).
It's going to take a hit to score you with 2 outs. Why the hell do you even take that risk??
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
