  1. Because if Youkilis doesn't play he'll cry.
  2. He's about as lucky as he can be that Iglesias had back tightness. Iggy's defense is an obvious and substantial improvement over Aviles, and he was hitting .341/.364/.427 in Pawtucket during May right before he got hurt. He was hitting .269 with a .317 OBP down there overall, but his May numbers were really boosting his overall numbers and he looked like he was in a groove.
  3. David Ortiz vs Mark Buehrle: .345/.387/.586, 2 HR, 8 2B, 58 AB. Youkilis vs Mark Buehrle: .214/.294/.214 (3 singles in 14 PA). Yeah. That makes sense Bobby. Good job.
  4. That's the thing, evil. Youkilis is never healthy. Nobody is arguing that he's no longer talented. The argument is that he is not consistently healthy. He has had an ENTIRE offseason to get healthy, and he came back and was on the DL within a month. He's clearly not right at the moment, either. Even when he was "healthy" at the start of the season, he was terrible, awful. During ST, he was getting beat badly. He's missed 127 games since 2010. That's 32.9% of the past 3 seasons!!! And when he actually DOES play, he's not even very good because he's constantly trying to play through injuries. He has no value man. He's got no value. Going back to last July, that's 71 games, 291 PA where he has OPS'd below .650. He had an ENTIRE OFFSEASON to get healthy. He comes back, on the DL within a month. You tell me. Why the hell would any team want to trade for that?
  5. Nomar was still a good player when they traded him. Youkilis is not a good player anymore. I'm not sure what you can look at to prove that he is. He's been very bad since last July. Plus, Nomar played 156 games in each of the preceding two seasons before being traded. Youkilis has averaged about 110 in the past 2 seasons.
  6. Nomar was hitting .321/.367/.500/.867 when they traded him. Youkilis is hitting .231/.314/.372/.686. Nomar was still helping the team win. Youkilis is blocking a kid who plays better defense and has an OPS 173 points higher than him. Plain and simple. Middlebrooks is a huge asset, a middle of the order bat. Youkilis is becoming (or has become) a liability. I understand you may be a big Youkilis fan, but it doesn't take a lot to realize that he's a below average player. Youkilis: -0.1 WAR Middlebroos: 0.6 WAR And WAR is dependent on Games Played, which Youkilis has played more games (36 to 31). It's not a decision. Middlebrooks is your everyday 3B. That's it. That's the answer to the Youk vs WMB conundrum.
  7. Wow. How quickly we forget, huh? Weren't the Yankees just on a 2-7 slump just a couple weeks ago?? You actually think that the Yankees are going to really throw to a sub 2.30 ERA the rest of the season, that's hilarious. You talk about the Yankees pitching underachieving. Hm. I guess Lester and Buchholz haven't been underachieving, but you wouldn't want to mention that. So what about when the Sox were 1-8 over a 9 game span. Would you have said "I don't think the Sox are going on a 13-3 run" at that point? Because they did just that. And the offense can get straightened out in any given game. It's not like it's a gradual build up. The Red Sox aren't playing well because they're hitting .130 with RISP. That normalizes. After watching the Yankees do the exact same thing, you should know that as well or better than anyone.
  8. But I do agree about Aviles. If we're going to get pure s*** production from our SS, I would rather have Iglesias come out and play elite defense.
  9. 101 games left. That's a pretty substantial amount of time.
  10. To say the least. It's a shame that Iglesias is on the DL because Aviles can't hit traffic right now, and his defense has been very bad lately. He's not nearly enough of a roadblock to keep Iglesias down in AAA. You put Iggy and WMB on the left side of the infield and it's a strength, especially defensively. I mean FFS, Iglesias can come up here and hit .224 with a .665 OPS. GTFO, Youkilis.
  11. At this point, why the hell is Youkilis playing??? The guy is absolutely not helping this team win. He's hitting freaking .224 with a .665 OPS, and we're sitting Middlebrooks, who is hitting .305 with a .868 OPS. f***ing ridiculous. Absolutely inexcusable.
  12. Get the f*** off the team, Youkilis. That's pathetic.
  13. Jesus Christ. What the f*** are we doing at the plate??
  14. wow. Salty watches two pitches middle middle go by. Then he swings at a ball out of the zone.
  15. Wow. Ortiz just got absolutely frozen.
  16. Sox can't have WMB hit for anyone other than Sweeney coming up. Awesome. Would be fantastic if BobbyV gave the bat to WMB over Youk.
  17. Wow. Gonzo with his first walk in, what, 107 AB?
  18. Sure. You can find it here Coming into this season, Adrian Gonzalez had a 140 OPS+, and had a 147 OPS+ over the past 5 seasons. Have a look. There are a lot of big names in that 145 range.
  19. Top of the 8th, pitchers spot up first. Hmm... I have Middlebrooks and Punto, and there's virtually no chance that the P spot gets back up... Yeah Punto sounds good. Idiotic move, V.
